What happened to the alt-right? They were ascendant around the time of Trump One, but then they slowly faded into irrelevance. Now they're neither growing nor declining, just big enough to influence mainstream politics and culture slightly, but not big enough for this influence to be relevant.

The right no longer has a need to pretend to be alternative to an imagined staus quo, anyone who stayed on the right understands they're pro-status quo, and any of them that were not happy with the status quo became leftists.

they're just the right now

The backlash to the Christchurch + Charlottesville killed whatever momentum they did have and got at least some people who were in it for the memes to reckon with what they were doing, although like with Gamergate if you were online all the time back then it's easy to overestimate their influence a bit (if you actually think 4chan won Trump the election you're beyond saving). The 'alt right' as it existed there slowly died with only a select few people like Nick Fuentes and Sam Hyde remaining.

The post COVID radical right is kind of a different beast that is imo a product of everything that happened in 2020, even if there's obviously continuity in beliefs. More religious compared to the Trump 1.0 alt-right that largely came out of online atheism/rationalism, more focused on gender war shit because of the dating crisis, probably more anti-science in general, and in the American context less focused on Islam (people have tried to bring back Muslim panic here esp post 10/7 but it doesn't hold much weight when Islamist terrorism rarely happens in the US, it's mainly been rolled into broader anti immigrant sentiment concerning Somalis in Minnesota) and more on Indian H1Bs because of what's happened in tech.

Of course now things are different than they were in 2021 or 2022 because the aforementioned stuff is no longer the counterculture and the government is trying to implement the ideas of some of these people.

they rarely happen in the US anymore compared to 2014-2016 when ISIS attacks were a fairly common threat and Trump was able to gain popularity partially by positioning himself as the tough on terror candidate, I mean

Good analysis, in the future people probably distinguish between the pre-2019 right and the post-pandemic right but will highlight what ideas were carried over in two specific periods. Yhe pandemic was a crucible that formed a lot of the things we see talked about right now like, as you mentioned, the gender war and anti-science shit. But that stuff grew exponentially starting in 2021 and probably reached it's climax in 2024; I sense a kind of fatigue amongst a lot of right wingers in the sense that a lot of them have been letting themselves be fed the same talking points since 2016 and, even with their Top Guy now having been in the white house twice, not only have things not gotten better for them, they've actually gotten significantly worse. I don't think that means that the "alt-right" or post-pandemic right is dying any time soon though, it'll probably just enter another crucible and come out even worse to keep satisfying the cattle-esque reactionaries.

On this note, lots of fash end up getting cold feet. Neo-Nazis lie through their teeth to sound reasonable and they alienate a substantial amount of recruits once they realize violent and fucked it is. Cold-feet conservatives are actually historically been a useful source of some important antifa intel.

Recently in Aus, the neo-Nazis in Melbourne got their cars keyed by antifa and then lost their shit and beat up a peaceful Aboriginal protest camp. Huge optics self-own, even their own neo-Nazi podcasters were bitching about it. Also, they're a raw milk pedo cult, so there's that.

>U stupid lefty npcs can't use pepe!!!11

Reactionary coalitions tend to fall apart pretty quickly after the thing they are reacting to is no longer in the picture. After running the Dems out of Washington and taking over the Supreme Court and appointing Trump King of America, the MAGA coalition has defeated its common enemy and now their interests no longer converge, they all have completely different and contradictory goals for what they want to do with the United States.

>>2516956
They converted to MAGA Communism

>>2516956
They won.
Retarded fuck. They're in the hwhite house.

>what happened to the alt-right?
they won and became mainstream. now they're just 'the right'.

alt-right was a millennial phenomenon that was always only one aspect of the "new right" and was overhyped way too much.

they're the mainstream right wing now, so no need for the "alt" anymore

>>2516956
They merged with the state. Multiple members of Trump’s cabinet are alt-right.

The alt-right as we know it was just an edgy make over created by the bannons/thielite group that wanted the right to appeal to the edgelord crowd, which they succeeded at in a way but in some weird sense I actually imagine that being an "Edgelord" will lose it's clout and aesthetic appeal with the masses with Zoomers holding onto this faux-masculine hustlebro culture which just comes off as trying to larp as Patrick Bateman and having that be your personality which many zoomer hoes will find to be inauthentic. For as much shit Millennial men get, it seems like they are actually plapping a lot more bitches than the zoomers are and I imagine that the right will slowly lose it's hank-hill aww chucks prestige and it's zestiness in the future. However there barely seems to be anything left to pick it up. Dark Woke seemed promising but I think it felt kind of flat.

such an ignorant post on so many levels

The alt-right got nuked after Charlottesville it no longer exists, no one talks about it unless they're stuck in 2017.

>>2516956
Irrelevant? They hold more influence in the GOP than ever. The alt-right proper "died" after Charlottesville, but it "survived" in a different form through BAP, Fuentes, etc. Every single "young" and "not-so-young Republican" is virtually a fascist. Also, the idea that it is not "big enough" for their influence to be "relevant" just shows that you have no idea how online the GOP is. They "won" is certain spheres (immigration), they are not entirely victorious on Israel, but not even. Notice how Charlie Kirk was, to a certain degree, getting closer to Carlson´s positions on the issue.

It seems that you have no idea how bad the situation truly is.

we dropped the astroturfed name and moved around

>the GOP becoming anti-Israel is bad

>>2521895

The GOP becoming "anti-Israel" is "good" only in an absolute vacuum. What´s interesting is how are they going to stabilize the anti-semitic nature of the base, perhaps they are going to become like Gulf states (the official Gov is pro-zionist, the people anti-zionist).

In fact, this stabilization is happening right now: the redscare (GOP/Thiel operatives) interview of Fuentes is a sign of this.

>>2521895
They are never going to become anti-israel, what you have is just anti-semitic zionists.

>what happened to our strawman
You have new ones now to attack.
