First they ignore the material conditions that bigotry, ie growing up in a homophobic religious community, livinging in a segregated community. They assume that morality is fixed thing those in the past where to ignorant of it or are evil. Rather than it being an invention man based his experiences. Do really slave owners are inherently bad people, or due to them Owning/growing up in a society that has them they begin to rationalize why they are necessary and that's for the benefit of the slaves. Liberals themselves don't even follow their own standards as lot of them can be hateful towards Russians and Chinese people. And view LGBT, Black people with rose tinted glasses.

Secondly its a form slave morally taken to its extreme. Instead of just believing that your morally superior to your alive opponents instead you have to rebuke the dead. As some sort of resentment towards the past and its figures. It's a feeling of false power.

Yes I believe slavers in all times and places were evil. Some people say slavery was necessary for civilization, and if that's true then civilization is evil, which is easy enough to believe just looking around. Not only do I love moralism and presentism I also love judging current people by the standards of an imagined future society. If I can see it why can't others? Probably because they're stupid and evil.

Let's look at the United States for example notice most abolitionists are from north while those who defended slavery to most vehemently are overwhelmingly from the south. That's because the north relied on free workers for the ecomony to function while in the south they required slavery. Even when slavery was finally abolished the south still for decades after had a form of pseudo slavery where bound to plantations due poor economic conditions and jim crow laws.
