Are South Vietnamese gusanos motivated by just Sinophobia?

From my very limited experience with them, they seem to view communism as a Chinese export. Is this the same situation as with Ukrainan-Canadians who would say to your face that communism is the ideology of the "Moscow Horde"?

absolutely. i live in a city with one billion south viet immigrants and they're all trumpies who are convinced le prc is out to get us all

Vietnamese identity is in and of itself motivated by Sinophobia, it’s basically the Ukraine of east Asia and the only reason it doesn’t get as much scrutiny is because of its supposedly socialist government

Yes.

They even had an ethnic cleansing of Chinese in the 70s

But this was tolerated because of the Brezhnevite desire to subjugate China.

>March 3, 2025 (HaAretz) - Vietnam has finalized a $680 million deal with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for the purchase of two advanced spy satellites, marking a significant step in Hanoi’s efforts to enhance its surveillance capabilities in the South China Sea amid ongoing tensions with China.
>This deal is part of a broader defense relationship between Israel and Vietnam, with the latter having purchased an estimated $2 billion worth of Israeli military equipment in recent years. Past acquisitions include Rafael’s Spider air defense systems, IAI’s Heron drones, and radar systems from Elta Systems. Talks are also underway for Rafael to establish a Spike anti-tank missile production facility in Vietnam, potentially worth $500 million.

Is Vietnam even a real country? Sounds more like a wayward province that should have been integrated into the Chinese socialist imperium.

You can’t find Pho in China so yes it’s a real national identity

The Vietnamese hate the Chinese for its long history of imperialism against them. The Vietnam War was more of a war of national liberation against foreign powers than it was a communist revolution.

That’s literally been every “communist” revolution since 1917, even in Russia it was mostly to stop the war

>Israel and China began military-to-military relations as early as the 1980s, even though no formal diplomatic relations existed.[45][20][46] Before diplomatic relations were established in 1992 Israel had been selling arms to China. The use of military sales as a means of achieving foreign-policy goals was neither new nor unprecedented in Israeli foreign policy to promote its interests. Israel sold technology to upgrade Chinese tanks and planes in the 1980s. IAI Lavi and unmanned aerial vehicle technology seems to have been sold to China. Expertise in fitting western equipment in Soviet made hardware helped in modernization of Chinese army and air force, this way Chinese defense modernization complemented Israel's need of cash to fund its domestic made high-tech weapons programs.[47]
>On 13 August 2012, vessels from the People's Liberation Army Navy's 11th escort fleet, led by Rear Admiral Yang Jun-fei, anchored at Israel's Haifa naval base for a four-day goodwill visit to mark 20 years of cooperation between the Israel Defense Forces and the PLA.[55][56] The vessels and crewmen were welcomed by the Haifa base commander, Brigadier General Eli Sharvit,[56] and Chinese embassy officials.[55] In July 2018, 180 acres of the Northern port in Haifa were transferred to the state-owned Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) for a 25-year period of management.
