Israel carries out wave of airstrikes on southern Lebanon
Israeli warplanes struck the towns of Kfar Dounine, Tayr Debba and Zawtar al-Sharqiya on Thursday, about an hour after issuing evacuation warnings to residents. No deaths had been reported at the time of publishing. The attacks came despite a ceasefire deal signed between Hezbollah and Israel nearly a year ago that ended 13 months of fighting.

Mediators propose deal to get Hamas fighters out of Gaza's Israeli zone, sources say
Egyptian mediators have proposed that, in exchange for safe passage, fighters still in Rafah surrender their arms to Egypt and give details of tunnels there so they can be destroyed, one of the sources, an Egyptian security official, said. Israel and Hamas have yet to publicly accept mediators' proposals, the two sources said. A third confirmed that talks on the issue were underway.

RSF paramilitaries agree to truce proposal in Sudan
Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, at war with the regular army for more than two years, announced on Thursday, November 6, that they had agreed to a proposal for a humanitarian truce put forward by mediators. The announcement follows the paramilitaries' capture of the major city of El-Fasher, which dislodged the army from its last stronghold in the vast western Darfur region. They have since been accused of mass killings, looting and sexual violence there, and have in recent days appeared to turn their focus to the neighboring Kordofan region, where fierce battles are underway.

Egypt and Turkey boost support for Sudan's army following RSF capture of el-Fasher
A senior Egyptian military intelligence source told Middle East Eye that “cooperation has been underway between the Egyptian and Sudanese armies to set up a joint command force to deter RSF and any possible infiltration into Egypt through the borders with Sudan or Libya.” The urgency of the situation for Cairo was underscored when the Egyptian army’s chief of staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi, made two visits within 24 hours - first to Saudi Arabia, then to Port Sudan, currently the home of Sudan’s army-backed government.

27th Amendment to Pakistan’s Constitution on the Anvil
The constitutional amendment is likely to create a new federal constitutional court to handle pure constitutional disputes or cases related to fundamental rights. The power to transfer senior judges between provinces is likely to be transferred from the chief justices to the executive, i.e., the prime minister’s office. Moreover, district-level courts may also get executive magistrates with powers to handle petty crimes and maintain public order to reduce the burden on the courts.

US pharma to abandon UK unless NHS pays more, says Trump’s ambassador
Britain has offered to increase the threshold at which the NHS pays firms for medicines by up to 25 percent, POLITICO first reported in October. But pharmaceutical executives are pushing the government to go further. American drugmaker Eli Lilly said on Monday that it wants to see more changes to Britain’s medicine market before it pivots on its abandoned £279 million investment in a biotech incubator project.

Only two of Trump's fellow Republicans joined Democrats in backing the measure, in a show of the party's support for Trump's military buildup in the southern Caribbean after two months of deadly strikes against boats off Venezuela. The Trump administration says that, since early September, U.S. forces have launched at least 16 strikes against such vessels in the Pacific and southern Caribbean, killing more than 65 people.

US supreme court issues emergency order blocking full Snap food aid payments
The high court’s order came after the Trump administration asked a federal appeals court on Friday to block a judge’s order that it distribute November’s full monthly food stamp benefits amid a US federal government shutdown. After that request to block was denied, the Trump administration turned to the supreme court in a further attempt to block the order to fully fund Snap food aid payments.

Federal judge permanently blocks Trump from deploying National Guard to Portland
“Since that brief span of a few days in June, the protests outside the Portland ICE facility have been predominately peaceful, with only isolated and sporadic instances of relatively low-level violence, largely between protesters and counter-protesters,” the judge wrote in her 106-page order, “this Court concludes that even giving great deference to the President’s determination, the President did not have a lawful basis to federalize the National Guard.”

Dems' resistance stymies DOJ in Stephen Miller doxxing case
Late Wednesday, Magistrate Judge Lindsey Vaala denied the FBI's petition for a warrant to search the smartphone owned by the suspect in the case, a 66-year-old retiree named Barbara Wien. The Justice Department plans to appeal, a source told Axios. The FBI wants to examine Wien's phone to see if she lied to investigators or was part of a group that might pose a risk to Miller and his family.

‘Open Bigotry’: ADL Condemned for ‘Mamdani Monitor’ Aimed at Rooting Out Criticism of Israel
The ADL, whose executive director, Jonathan Greenblatt, earlier this year falsely accused Mamdani of refusing to visit synagogues during his campaign, said its “Mamdani Monitor” would “track and monitor policies and personnel appointments of the incoming Mamdani administration and protect Jewish residents across the five boroughs during a period of unprecedented antisemitism in New York City.”

Inside ICE’s Plans For A Bounty Hunter Army
In February, at the start of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, news broke that a group of military contractors was circulating a blueprint for mass deportations, to be carried out by private contractors. Led by Erik Prince, Trump ally and founder of the notorious mercenary firm Blackwater, the group proposed (among other ideas) that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) create a “skip tracing team” that would send out private contractors to hunt down immigrants targeted for deportation, per reporting at the time by Politico. Now, there are indications ICE is carrying out those plans. Last month, The Lever revealed that ICE had signed a $7 million contract with defense contractor SOS International for “skip tracing services.” SOS International, also known as SOSi, has long done business with the federal government, including working with the U.S. military in Afghanistan — and has business ties to one of the military contractors whose name was listed alongside Prince’s in the proposal. It was the first time, per online federal procurement databases, that an ICE contract description contained the phrase “skip tracing,” a term usually associated with debt collection and bounty hunting. There was little further detail about the services SOSi would provide to Trump’s immigration enforcers. The contract — with its eerie callback to the Prince deportation blueprint — appears not to be a fluke. Several days later, ICE signed another “skip tracing” contract, this time worth up to $33.5 million, with international debt collector Global Recovery Group LLC.

Trump and the War in Ukraine: A Volatile Balancing Act Between Moscow, Kyiv, and Brussels
In just one week, the U.S. president threatened Putin by announcing the possible delivery of Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine if he continued the war. A few days later, he spoke with him at length by telephone, just before a tense meeting with Zelensky at the White House. After this meeting, Trump announced that he would ultimately not send the Tomahawks to Ukraine in order to avoid an escalation with Russia, and immediately announced a meeting with Putin in Budapest. Five days later, the U.S. government postponed the Budapest meeting indefinitely and imposed sanctions on the Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil. This constant back-and-forth, this “diplomatic yo-yo,” may seem incoherent, but it likely reveals quite a lot. On the one hand, it may reflect the divisions that exist between different wings of U.S. imperialism: some more in favor of ending hostilities “at all costs” to avoid an uncontrollable escalation between Russia and NATO (as well as for domestic political considerations), and others who believe that the continuation of the war, on the contrary, serves the interests of the United States because it weakens Russia.

Third Hamas-Israel Ceasefire Leads to More Prisoner Exchanges; Ongoing Negotiations
A ceasefire between Hamas and Israel came into effect on October 10, 2025, potentially facilitating the return of millions of Palestinians to their homes in the besieged Gaza Strip. This is the third ceasefire signed between both sides since the Hamas-led incursion into Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and Israel’s subsequent genocide in Gaza. Over 68,000 Palestinians have been confirmed killed since, with possibly tens of thousands more buried underneath tons of rubble. According to leaked data from the Israeli military itself over 83% of casualties in this war have been Palestinian civilians – most being Palestinian women and children. While high rates of civilian deaths is a common reality of war, this exceptionally high rate of civilian deaths in Gaza ranks among the deadliest in modern history. Israeli forces have since mostly withdrawn to positions outside of Gaza City, Khan Younis and Rafah where the fiercest urban combat had been raging as part of Israel’s stalled attempt to seize the entirety of the Gaza Strip. There are still at least tens of thousands of troops deployed deep within the territory. Currently, Israeli troops are occupying a little more than half of the enclave, ready to resume pushing forward with their ground invasion at a moment’s notice. Many Gazans immediately celebrated the news, before braving the perilous journey back to largely destroyed homes. As bulldozers have begun removing endless piles of debris, humanitarian aid convoys from the Egyptian Red Crescent and the UN have slowly started trickling in. A week into the ceasefire, Israel continues to block the majority of aid. The first phase of this ceasefire has seen the release of all living Israeli captives, 20, in exchange for 1,968 Palestinian prisoners. Israel has further promised to progressively withdraw its forces from Gaza depending on the progress of ongoing negotiations. Given recent history, however, many fear that Israel isn’t serious about negotiations and will resume its offensive shortly after those negotiations fail again. Already the ceasefire appears to be barely holding on as continued clashes have killed at least two Israeli soldiers and 97 Palestinians since. On the other hand, if the ceasefire holds and negotiations succeed there is hope that an end to the war will lead to a Palestinian state.
