The crackdown on immigration in the west has the potential to be a good thing for revolutionary and anti-imperialist states, because it will prevent both brain drain and loss of labor forces. The downside is that these countries won't be able to expel the reactionary elements that would otherwise go to the west, especially the US.

i dont think a crackdown on immigration is gonna solve any (or at least most) of the problems in global south mainly because the places these migrants come from (the middle east, south america, africa) all have massive western influence if any non cia backed "revolution" happens it will probably be crushed by the west the only way to insure a independent south is to get rid of western influence, but eh who knows maybe something will happen for once

The West actually depends a lot on harvesting the intellectuals of the rest of the world - just look at how much of the American IT sector, doctors, top researchers in various fields, etc. are first-gen or second-gen migrants, and imagine America without any of them. Are the locals, 20% of whom are illiterate, 54% of which are below a 6th grade reading level, going to fill those spots held by the global cream of the crop?
