What do I mean? American Leftism almost entirely centers around resurrecting the 90 year old New Deal. That is literally it. Nothing more radical. Nothing less imperial. Hell, usually not even anything less racist! American leftoids do not care about the history of the New Deal, do not care about the contradictions of the New Deal, do not care about the outcome of the New Deal nor the purpose of the New Deal. Unironically all that matters to them is that for nearly a century they have been taught that socialism is when the government does things therefore FDR was a communist. And that’s a good thing. This is unironically what the majority of American leftists believe. I know why they believe these things, but is it possible to break them out of their worship of the Settler Fuhrer (FDR) and his radical program to save capitalism through Americanization and American totalitarianism?
Social Democracy is not the left anymore. It is just a slightly more centralised brand of neoliberalism. When Social Democrats won their first elections in countries like Germany they were almost instantly cuckolded by the capitalist state institutions i.e the private sector and the influence of the Kaiser so they were forced to abide by the will of the "deepstate" or to be more accurate the capitalist class who demanded German expansionism. Britain, also, was swayed to continue colonial wars post-WWII to protect the rubber trade again because of the will of the private sector. Or how after Thatcherism the British left again was forced to adapt to the same view as the Austrian economists because the global market demanded it and no elected government can truly resist the will of the financial sector without essentially changing the very structure of the state.
For Americans the state institutions are even more hard-coded than the ones in Europe.

You can't have communism when industry has been offshored and people are in poverty, a second New Deal would be historically progressive and necessary to re-establish a socialist society with American characteristics.
