So you get these groypers and they recognize that’s a contradiction of what the republicans supposedly are. They don’t respect or want to vote for an atheist, if they legitimately think abortion is murdering babies they won’t accept a “difference in opinion”. To them these guys are just liberals, they don’t see themselves as a “big tent party” the way democrats do. They see themselves as genuine ideological partisans. So the groypers kind of internally recognize that these conservatives are just yesterday’s liberals, and so they want to roll back the clock—you can’t say “well LGB is fine, but T is too far!” Cause they recognize that a few years ago you were saying gay stuff in general was too far.

I think in some parts of the U.S., like in a lot of SoCal, golf just has better infrastructure—or maybe you could say it’s more notable infrastructure. If you drive past a golf course you know you’re driving past a golf course—it’s gigantic, it’s distinct. More than that you can play solo or with your friends, you don’t need a team to play. With stuff like baseball or basketball, yknow the game itself usually requires at least one other person, and while you can go to batting cages or practice your free throws on an empty court, you still ultimately aren’t getting the “full” experience.
