Alain Orsoni was a Corsican political and public figure.
Starting off as a far right french nationalists, he later turned toward the left and joined the FLNC, a Corsican nationalist organisation, during his time as a member, his brother got assassinated by the corsican Mafia, after a ceasire with the French, he formed his own group in order to preserve the ceasefire, he faught against other Corsican nationalist movements, while also being involved in organised crime.
After this, he moved to Nicaragua and started a gambling business he also organised an extorsion racket.
In 2008 He came back to Corsica and became president of the Football club, Ac Ajaccio. That same year, a rival gang also tried to kill him.
He was assassinated this morning, It's yet unknown who did it. But this in a context of a revival of the Corsican conflict since 2022. Perhaps it is linked ? Could also obviously be gang stuff.
The mafia from that small island seems to be unusually active and influent nowadays. Look at all the kerfuffle around the mountain bar that took fire in Switzerland - and the dozens of teenagers burned alive. That place was managed by a long time mafioso from Corsica.
Unfortunately, it seems like many figures in that liberation movement are in fact gangsters. I think Corsica should be completely cleansed from French domination. France is one of the most malevolent, dangerous and violent entities existing today in the western world - and that says a lot - and deserves to lost every single overseas possession plus it must be balkanized in its own metropolis - let Brittany, Provence, Alsace secede. I also think most of the current political scenario in Corsica is fake and a facade - which, funnily enough, is a French word - for stay-behind, strategy-of-tension kinds of operations.
