spaceflight doesn't seem very popular among leftists recently. what does /leftypol/ think about it? are the moon and mars just playthings for billionaires? will china do anything differently? is socialist thought relevant to future lives beyond earth or is it all just a scifi obsession?

the hatred of space by leftists is dumb, instead we should be pushing for space to be for the benefit of the people and not be monopolized by elon and co. Space colonization as a concept is not inherently bad,

why should we think about space when we havent even searched the oceans?

1. its boring compared to space
2. Theres not that much there resource wise
3. We can do both

Space is the ideal project for the communist horizon. There just isn't the same profit motive to explore the heavens under capital, and it would be an ideal place to focus excess energy. There's a reason it was the Soviets who kicked off the whole space thing.

Send the capitalists into space.

Communist society should exist here, on Earth. There's no imperative to expand to a solar system which is completely undeveloped, uninhabited 'wilderness.' Send the bourgeoisie into orbit, where the imperative to expand, innovate and develop productive forces actually makes sense and can be put to use harvesting asteroids and terraforming planets for infinite profits.

we can learn to communicate with the dolphins.

>should
Why? Why "should" it be confined to earth?
>There's no imperative to expand to a solar system which is completely undeveloped, uninhabited 'wilderness.'
There is imperative to not expand either.

Space is fake and gay. There is literally nothing out there. It is literally a void.
>>2649143
>2. Theres not that much there resource wise
Neither is there in space which is why nobody goes there except to waste money.

The Association of Autonomous Astronauts said this like… 30 years ago?

You know the only people who are interested in going to space are the same people who hate Earth. They don't like going outside and experiencing Earth, so the idea of living indoors for the rest of their life is no loss for them. But like, why is living indoors for the rest of your life, BUT IN SPACE! So attractive? It literally will make no difference to you. That is assuming they can ever fix the problems of living indoors 24/7 in less than 1G.

You know the only good thing about space is it seems to give astronauts all the same experience of finding appreciation for Earth. Yeah going into that fucking hellish void away from the one good place for people in the universe makes you appreciate what you got so much more.

There would've been no Musk had we listened to them earlier…

>>2649084
True. We’ll still have to probably delay further developments as we adapt to climate change, but there’s no reason to disregard a perfectly fine concept for idealist delusions.
>>2649131
Diversification.
>>2649143
>its boring compared to space
Nonsense. It’s a perfectly interesting locale.

>>2681736
There would've been no littering the orbit with satellites had the world listened to them earlier…

Its too late to start now…

>>2681721
Earth’s orbit is liberal dominated for now, but that will change later.
>>2681728
>There is literally nothing out there
Except literally everything that we know to exist, including us.
>>2681735
>You know the only people who are interested in going to space are the same people who hate Earth.
Nonsense. I think just applies to people actively going into, or trying to go into, space in the current moment.

I am in favor of sending all sci-fi fags to space. You are all bad people and it would be good to rid the world of you. The real issue is if we put all you bad people into space, you're going to start dropping things on us as has been predicted in numerous sci-fis. It is easier and better to just kill you.
