So-called 'leftists' in South Africa only focus on moving a few rich black people in Camps Bay and Franschhoek. They tacitly agree that Khayelitsha and Gugulethu will remain hellish shitholes. You cannot fit 55 million people in the Atlantic seaboard. At some point, they will have face the reality of the rural places and the townships. They will have to focus on genuinely providing proper education to the black and colored peoples instead of eternally dumbing down the school curriculum and artificially 'decolonising' the universities. Too many proletarian black South Africans I have spoken to have said the same thing: as horrible the apartheid government was, it at least focused on building the means of production locally. The ANC government should have expanded that. If you want to provide a good life to 55 million South Africans and not only 8 million whites, you have to expand production, not piss it all away.
South Africa unironically needs Dengism. And I say this despite not being a great fan of Dengism.

(i) there is no proper alternative. The next biggest is the DA which wants even more neoliberalism and are a bunch of crypto-apartheidnostalgics. In third position, there is the EF. A bunch of toi-toiing morons who refuse to engage in scientific analysis and prefer to spontaneously burst in chants at every occasion.
(ii) Following from the lack of alternatives, people fall back on the ANC purely because it is the party of Madiba and not voting for ANC = real possibility of racist DA taking power.
It also does not help that the new generation of university-educated black youth are all Americanized morons who, like good yanks, look only after their comfort, their Beyonce albums, and their performative shitty protests against Gender-Based Violence and 'muh decolonizashon'.
