If the workers were in full control of the guilds and the guilds dictated production and distribution based on social need instead of exploitative profit, that seem to me a good incentive to improve both the quality and quantity and ease of production from those guilds to the respective communities in that society.
Its seems to me that this model of society can possibly be the most egalitarian model for an industrialized society that isn't explicitly communist.
