Give up your nukes, and the US will destroy you like they did Gaddafi. Don't give up your nukes, and your sovereignty is guaranteed even if your society can still rapidly change from the inside. The point here is Israel's sovereignty is guaranteed because it has nukes. Maybe it can be changed from the inside but I see no signs of that happening any time soon. It's not analogous to the USSR at all.
