New Comminques from the People's Liberation Army of Burma, armed wing of the Burmese Communist Party:
"Celebrating the Fifth Anniversary of the Rebirth of the People's Liberation Army-PLA" Message from the New Democracy Group
To all PLA commanders and soldiers:
(15-3-2026) marks the fifth anniversary of the rebirth of the PLA.
Our letter and message have two main meanings.
- Congratulation 2. Encouragement.
- Congratulation
(A) First of all, we would like to congratulate the PLA People's Liberation Army for its strength and ability to rise from the flames like a phoenix.
The current PLA was reborn in 2021 from the People's Liberation Army of 1948-1949. In 1967, the party and army at the Bago Yoma Base were surrounded and massacred by the enemy military group. On March 15, 1975, the party's highest leader, Chairman Thakin Zin, and Secretary Thakin Chit were killed. The party and army were thought to be dead. However, the Party and the army stood firm in the Northeast Military Region in 1967-1968. In 1989, the enemy military regime used a bloodless division within the Party and the army to disintegrate the Party and the army, using ethnic nationalist forces to crush and kill them. They even widely propagated that the Communist Party and the army no longer existed. However, the PLA was reborn in the 2021 People's Armed Revolution.
- The PLA was reborn in the 2021 People's Tide Movement.
- The PLA was reborn as part of the long-standing efforts of the Communist Party of Burma to rebirth.
- It is also the result of the noble contributions made by the strong leaders and comrades who have made great efforts despite all the difficulties to reestablish the PLA.
- The PLA was not only born alive but also gradually developed strongly due to the unity of the working class and peasants, students, the urban poor and middle class, the emerging bourgeoisie and the revolutionary national capitalists.
Comrades - The PLA is like a rock that has been eroded by the waves of the sea and has stood firm against the enemy's attacks.
(b) I congratulate the PLA's spirit of independence during the past five years.
Political and ideological independence.
The Party and the PLA are not under the political influence of any other country. They have demonstrated in practice that they are an independent and self-reliant force under the direct and absolute leadership of the Communist Party of Burma. They are a party and a force that independently set their own path and policies and walk forward.
Economic Independence
The PLA is not supported by any foreign country. It has never received a single penny of aid from foreign governments. In 1948-1949, the PLA had to feed its soldiers with bowls and baskets from the people in the Kyaukse market. Today, the PLA is a force that relies on the people and relies on the people. The people in the country donate their hard-earned money to the PLA every month. Overseas workers donate their wages to the PLA every month. The new generation of the party's young people have collected whatever they have earned abroad and at home and donated it to the PLA. In the countryside, the people donate rice and vegetables to the PLA. The people are the PLA's main supporter. Without the people, the PLA would not exist. Similarly, the PLA also adheres to the slogan that every step of the PLA is for the benefit of the oppressed people.
(c) We must sincerely honor the PLA's spirit of sacrificing their lives for the benefit of the people.
- In 2021, Comrade Aung Ba Nyo, also known as Comrade Hnin Aung, the political commander of the PLA No. 1 Military Region, sacrificed his life for the benefit of the people on (3-12-2021).
- During the 1027 Operation in northeastern Myanmar, 12 heroic martyrs lost their lives in the battle to capture Sinni. Many of them lost their limbs and were injured.
- During the siege and attack on the No. 13 Military Academy (Corporal Academy) strongly defended by the enemy coup army in Moe Mai Gwin (Khon) for almost a year, 6 or more PLA comrades were killed and many were injured. There were other comrades who fell fighting the enemy in the rain.
- Comrade Aung Thura (Comrade Htun Naing) was killed in the battle of Phalan O village, west of Pakokku, Magway Division. There were 2 other comrades who fell in Magway Division.
- In the battle to capture the enemy camp in Kandaung, Pearl, 12 PLA comrades lost their lives. 67 were injured. 9 comrades lost their limbs. (In the past five years, 17 comrades from the PLA Northwest Military Region have lost their lives.)
With these comrades… in the No. (1) Military Region of Sagaing Region, in the battles of Moe Meik and Dwin Nga, in the battles of Welang Taung Thar, and in Mattara Township, the PLA comrades who gave their lives and served the people are martyrs who will always be in our hearts. Let us all bow down and honor the heroic spirit of these martyred comrades who died.
(d) Honoring the PLA's self-sacrificing political consciousness for the people's good during the past five years.
During the past five years, the PLA has also attached great importance to political construction in building the army from all sides. Comrades train hard in the military training course during the day and tirelessly in the political training course at night. During the five years of continuous training at the Party Central Training School, comrades have repeatedly attended and studied hard. Therefore, the PLA has become a relatively politically capable army.
