it has to do with the US being the world reserve currency, thus compelling everyone to
trade in dollars whether they have those dollars already or not. it has nothing to do with whether a particular country uses dollars as its day to day currency, which very few do.

all dedollarization means is ending the US's exorbitant privilege as world reserve currency. it does not necessarily imply that another nation's national currency will need to become world reserve.
