The whole point of normie social media and search engines was to keep bourgoise superstructure from getting power washed away by proles suddenly having all documented knowledge available and a world wide encrypted speakeasy.
Search engines were redundant techbro nonsense when they were introduced, autoindexing what people were already manually indexing and sorting them by popularity rather than the more useful presentation they would have been in. They made people get lazy about linking shit, and now that search engines have reached their logical conclusion every "just google it" is a dead end. That was on purpose.
People had social hubs before facebook and twitter came into the scene. Forums, blogs, rss feeds, just emailing eachother, etc… but then twitter came allong with the promise of an RSS feed you can update via texting, tumblr followed in it's footsteps, maybe facebook did too idk… that was convenient, and when the google reader incident happened people stayed on them despite not using RSS for a while, and got used to the idea that a site's feed ites accessed on that site alone; to just visit every social site you use manually. These bourgoise owned venues became the sole inflence people had when they visited the internet, became synonymous with the internet to the most brutally trapped of them.
Of course these conditions made racism come back, they were desperation measures, the last breath of the bourgoise superstructure in the face of vast change to the base.
