I think this was more applicable to the conservatives of the past tbh, where it was good because it was murican tradition and america #1. Most of the conservatives you're describing are the ones who went with the flow regarding the liberalization of culture past the 60s. The types pejoratively referred to as members of "Con, Inc.", "boomercons", or adherents of "zombie Reaganism".

"What have the conservatives conserved?" and "we're a nation not an economy" are some of their stock phrases for a reason.
