Australia just implemented a child social media ban making websites and apps make you verify if you’re over 17. Now I do believe that we must regulate these social media platforms because they are full of pedophiles but none of this is about that. If they really cared about that they wouldn’t have exempted Roblox, Discord, and LinkedIn from the ban. This is so you have to insert your information so that those websites can sell your information to AI mega corporations for the purpose of mass surveillance. Internet anonymity is dying!
I honestly think it's a dumb idea to ban kids from social media.
I'm not saying it doesn't have problems but most of the social media problems are not inherent to that medium.
I think it's just plain old technophobia.
Because before social media, whenever kids were bullied or had poor self esteem, adults would just shrug them off as hormonal angstroms.
But now that we have Face Book, all of a sudden, adults start obsessing over childrens "well-being"
