Only for the lefty part and I like the anonymity thing. I only got into imageboards when they became politically relevant in 2016. Still not into 4chan. I don't really like "imageboard culture" (read 4chan culture.) I'm glad this place got dechanned somewhat over the years.

I wish I was more cringe. I wasted by 20s being afraid of becoming some kind of lolcow and ruining my life only to wind up depressed, friendless and unemployed anyway without even having a funny story as to why.

Meanwhile other people are out there being non-passing transgender therians wearing a tail and collar to the store. I quietly stalk their twitter accounts and even when their lives are a mess I feel nothing but jealousy. I read lolcow threads as a form of escapism. I tell myself if I could do it over I'd join them and the only thing I now dream of is doing so in my 30s, an awkward age where everyone already had their social circle and where it's getting a bit weird to interact with people in their 20s.

Most anime is absolute trash. Nothing but fucking filler. Fucking painfully slow. I pretty much don't watch any anime that's not original. I just read mangas. Last anime I watched was probably The Boy and The Heron in theaters. And like I said before, nobody would think you're weird for watching Ghibli movies, they definitely are going to think you're weird for being into this moe shit. Thank you. I keep telling people to read the manga whenever they complain about lore inconsistencies between an anime and it's manga.
However, despite the fact that anime is mostly filler, I prefer it over western animation in terms of character designs and personalities.
Western animation uses too much snark and intentional mediocrity for the sake of "relatability". The characters aren't all good looking either and their skillsets are questionable.

in these current trends of social media especially with social issues, it's rather "narrative first, reality later". this sort of thing is spread foremost by women who like to engage heavily with culture therapy on tiktok etc. and tend to overemphasize narratives they find attractive and advantageous to their sex. men may not be aware of this but women treat relationships like men treat football or war, and all women are on the same side, that's why they build intelligence networks with each other to sip tea. much of what gains traction is based on fear, women's fear drives them much more and women (often rightly so) believe that they're more at risk of harm from the average man. this combined with the infantilization of society is the real origin of the age gap meme. it's also advantageous to older women that younger women remove themselves from their age bracket of the dating market. in a funny way these women are using their unfair power dynamics as trusted older women to do this.

that's the result of the hysteria (is that a bad word?) being pushed above. women and men are very attracted to power differences in relationships. in fact, it is one of the main factors that drives attraction. women love feeling small and weak and men love feeling like a strong protective man. how many women refuse to date a short man because she doesn't make her feel safe for example? in the same way men like younger women because they're cute. all of this is just women seeking to strengthen their own power as a sex in the dating market and to destroy men's ability to find partners so that they can be more tightly controlled.
