Religion only survives by brainwashing the next generation. If you're not a fundamentalist you're either not going to brainwash your kids with religion or only do a half-assed job. Then your kids will end up being even less serious about religion, or outright atheist/secular. Watering something down to nothing.
Fundamentalists meanwhile have no issue brainwashing the fuck out of their kids to the point of extreme harm. Then those kids brainwash their kids and so on. Albeit some of those kids will become alienated and break out of the cycle.
Of course, it's very good that religion is dying.
