But NI might be weirder than anything in Yugoslavia: ethnically and linguistically, ulster unionists are mostly descended from Scottish people. but if Scotland and Wales left the UK while England continued to insist it was 'Britain' on the international stage, ulster unionists would join with the mostly-unrelated English people instead of with Scotland because their primary identity is as British and an independent Scotland is a rejection of Britain.
(though the most realistic outcome to such a breakup is Irish unification and a lot of unionist seething, unless England were to encourage them to act up.)
