foolish. diminishing returns. your brain can only take so much before it becomes numb to the pleasures. neuroscience has shown that poeple with vast material wealth and access to pleasures eventually establish that as a "baseline" and need way more stuff just to maintain a basic level of happiness. The point is to live in a way that is sustainable for everyone, including yourself. This means neither depriving yourself of nutrients and shelter, nor becoming decadent to the extent that it's unsustainable.
