i was raised in a generational home and nuclear families always seemed like pure hell to me. no human being was ever meant to raise a baby with just one other person, that's simply torture. grandparents are there to give you a break plus they want to make up for the mistakes they made while raising you. i can imagine that hunter gatherer societies had it really good, since you could always find someone to take care of the baby practically any time of the day.
