I closed my facebook account like 15 years ago and since then I only created temporary accounts here and here to ragebait people or add something really meaningful and then I immediately deleted that account afterward.

I love leftypol because I can post like that and be anonymous among people who have some degree of intelligence and share my aspiration of a cool society where we share everything.

I guess leftypol is some sort of social media and we have our namefag characters like King Lear or Felix but since I use a VPN or TOR nobody can know what post me I made and it makes me feel safe and cool. Likewise, I like addressing other anons for nothing else but their posts.

So you use social media or if so how do you use it?

I never used social media and this is the only image board I use.

Based and wise but why and how?

>>745113
I mean I have read public posts on Facebook and I used peruse Twitter and even made an account but never commented on anything on there and don't really bother with X. I like to read some posters on Reddit but again never commented on anything on there. So I might be a lying a bit but I just like to read stuff on those places and not really engage with it. Honestly part of the reason why I didn't get much into social media is because I never really had many friends to connect with on there and didn't particularly want to. I don't friends in real life either but I wasn't about to use social media for that. I think my age plays a role in why I'm like this since I'm 41 and I feel like I'm a bit too old but at the same too young to interact with it too much. I feel teens and early 20s people and 60-70 year olds are the most active. On top of that most of the ones my age that are on social media seem to live more normie lives in that they go out and do social activities and often have families of their own. As far a image boards while I can't say that this one is all that most of the other like 4 Chan or pol seem much worse so I haven't bothered with them even though I don't think I fit in here that well. Then again I feel that I don't fit in many places.

Wow dude I'm sorry you didn't meet anyone you could call a friend, your post was full of feels though, I'm sure there are people out there just waiting to meet you.

I knew this guy in his fifties just going around Africa taking LSD and making friends. I don't think age has anything to do with the shit we're talking about, often it's just an excuse to keep the status quo people seem to suffer under.

I don't but I wish I could and did
I hate imageboards. Their only advantage is that I can't hurt anyone's feelings or be hurt myself. In a better life I found Twitter or Tumblr or Discord and wound up as something other than a personalityless husk with like 3 irl friends, no online friends or acquaintances, and no positive memories from spending 15 years - half of my life - on shitholes like this.

I for one am glad that all of my teenage pedo jokes have been long forgotten from all but the deep recesses of desuarchive.

>>745111
I don't have any. Closest would be Discord and Matrix. Or Steam.
>>745118
>I never really had many friends to connect with on there and didn't particularly want
Same, one reason I hated it.

im using less and less these days, i dont have that many friends nor i like engaging on those platforms. i prefer reading posts instead.

i used facebook ages ago, didnt really like tbh. twitter for a bit, never post anything but i liked because the artists i like posted more there. only recently ive been """using""" instagram so i have an opening for people that want to talk to me, rarely post there, just i few photos that i sometimes take. reddit when i need help with my os or when i want to read about people in worse situations than mine.

ive been using imageboards more lately, at the beginning (few years ago) didnt like or understand but today its what i pretty much use daily. leftypol and sometimes lainchan being the ones i use the most, /wg/ when i want a wallpaper and /gif/ for porn the only problem being the amount of racists on 4chan but i shut off my brain when i go there for my sanity. kinda wished there was a board focused on photography but thats fine

also i want to try irc as well, i installed irssi but havent connect to any channel yet. i always feel weird when joining group chats (thats the reason i barely used discord)

forgot to add but im planning on making a site on neocities. i wrote a post but havent set up anything yet

>>745156
Don't overthink it, I use hexchat and polari for IRC. I think there was a photography board on cuckchan, it's mostly console war threads over their favorite camera brand.
I never used instagram but all my friends have it. I have mostly used imageboards since two or three years ago, and mostly from the /jp/ sphere since they're apolitical. Left wing imageboards are in my experience more welcoming and more active so I like them. Never really got into lainchan because their site UI is kinda shitty. Try Matrix, I love /wg/.

Good luck, i have one too. I'm planning to set up my own independent site for my resume.

>Don't overthink it
thats what ive being trying to do even irl conversations, it's working so far. keeping the thought "they will probably be welcoming" in my head helps ease my mind (and almost always is true)
>I think there was a photography board on cuckchan, it's mostly console war threads over their favorite camera brand
oh that sucks. i remember seeing a few photography threads on /wg/, lots of hidden gems
>I never used instagram but all my friends have it
that was me ~1.5 years ago, it took me a while to create an account. i don't really like it but i find it easier to befriend people there. i wouldn't recommend for anything else
>Left wing imageboards are in my experience more welcoming and more active so I like them. Never really got into lainchan because their site UI is kinda shitty
same. im a communist myself and i feel comfortable here, but even before becoming a communist i already liked left leaning spaces because of this very reason. also one of the reasons i dont like 4chan in general, i dont like being called a shitskin ape uyghur or some retarded racist shit. and yeah lainchan ui sucks specially on mobile browser (using kuroba is better for that ib) but people there tend to be nice most of the time
>I love /wg/
btw check "Dark Winter" and "Minimalist black wallpapers" threads, just found a lot of good papes there
>Good luck, i have one too. I'm planning to set up my own independent site for my resume.
thank you anon, hope your site for your resume goes well. sorry for asking, are you a web dev?

I browse here and fedi. Very occasionally tumblr and bluesky, but mostly here and fedi. I ought to use planetminecraft and steam community more but eh.

>>745489
>steam community
is it any good? never use it

>>745491
I don't engage with it much aside from workshop mods, but I visited the artworks section of Atlyss and Garry's Mod recently and found it fun to browse.

>>745493
interesting, i'll check it out later

I consider social media genuinely evil technology, especially all modern for profit algorithm-based social media. It's designed to amplify negative emotions so that you keep using it, the harm it brings to the world in countless ways far outweighs the benefits, probably.

I also feel kinda ruined by growing up online within imageboard anon culture. The idea of having some kind of profile that people can see that shows my historical posts on other topics and interests that I might have is so invasive and uncomfortable. When I've used reddit for niche interests that wouldn't get discussion on chan boards, I start a brand new account for each sub and periodically delete them if I feel I'm being recognized. I wonder if the people that use "mainstream" social media ever get sick of it? It seems like it just continually gets shittier, from the outside looking in.

I use facebook because I have the pathological need of raging at boomers and chicanos defending Morena and Sheinbaum.

I hate them so much it is unreal.

>>745493
Isn't it full of chuddy gamers?

>>745516
The mods don't actively zap non-chuds like twitter or 4chan would, so it's a mixture of mostly left-of-center with a few chuds sprinkled here and there.

twitter and reddit for news and slop
leftypol for arguing with people

>>745514
why would ye use facebook in 2026

>>745579
Stalk your ex maybe?
