Le modern man is too irony poisoned to take anything seriously, but is also too sensitive to enjoy anything problematic.
The end result is that we get people who constantly change what they believe in based on vibes, tone policing edgelords who are the biggest snowflakes of all
I do not particularly hate this arrangement however. I do not want to return to an age where various desert cults chopped up people's hands for stealing apples. And i dont want to progress to a libertine nightmare where everything goes either. The current situation, where there is a balance between puritans and libertines, and where the extreme of both sides are not taken seriously by people irl, works fine
>>758025Oh yes, the most enlightened position of them all: uncritical conventionalism.
Only in your online container. Get a job, meet people.
>>758023>Le modern man is too irony poisoned to take anything seriouslyComplete meme propagated by a hack writer trying to build a myth for himself. When people accuse others of being too irony-poisoned it's nearly always because one specific thing they like got called cringe and they couldn't handle it, not because of anything that demonstrates actual widespread "irony poisoning"
>>758048This.
OP is the typical asocial pseudo intellectual that wants to politicize everything
buzzwords with no historical materialism
>>758023people are not irony poisoned, they are just blackpilled.
the truth is too much to handle so memes and irony are a nice cope, along with drugs.
i think people need to create their own shit. make up new words, make up new spooks, follow the spooks and delete them at your whims, whether joyful or sorrowfully. its perfect for the age we're in right now, doesnt have to last forever, and we're already seeing signs of it across "high" and "low" culture (AI generated art and 67 meme respectively). in fact internet culture and memes are the backbone of this. You see a full spectrum from nazi apologists to anarcho-stalinism. Some may argue this is just aestheticism and id agree. But I think they should go further and just create new stuff. Atheism(big jump here bare with me) has no rituals, no fun stuff that other religions do besides fiction and many rituals seemingly were done out of survivals sake to cope. Atheists and the seculars should strive to create new meaning . Literally. Just make stuff up and pull from the world and other fiction and stuff. Cults do this but they wanna stick around forever. Why stick around? Let it pass but might as well make it up. Doesnt have to be fun either. Right now capitalists take up all the creative juices and rituals and thats why you see cult-like fandom spaces attached to certain properties. Maybe its too late but i think creation is the best best against the nihilism we all feel and why so many fall off the deepend back to religions because no one is filling that creative niche of meaning. And religions got plenty of material to fill the mind.
