it's not like it's revolutionary or anything but most of the time it basically doesn't matter. the problem is that when it's endemic it creates a sense of lawlessness and antisociality. people need to feel like they're part of the same struggle against capital, not that some are unfairly getting ahead by flouting the rules.

Shoplifting a large corporation: yes
Shoplifting from a "mom and pop" small business is against my own morals and ethics. I can't stop anyone, I'm not a snitch. But please, do not. Some of these local businesses are hanging on by a thread. Often they go into debt just to keep operating.

You don't have to listen. If I see someone shoplifting, no, I sure as shit never saw it happen.

First a socialist analysis must be done. Are the mom and pop small businesses the progressive wing of the petit-bourgeois, the undecided section of the petit-bourgeois who can be won over, or the reactionary petit-bourgeois. It seems more likely that the mom and pop shops would either be the undecided or the reactionary, but a case-by-case investigation must be done.

If they are the reactionary PB, shoplifting could be revolutionary, but it must be done for the community, for the communists must always put the people first. Instead of individual shoplifting, the communist must galvanize the people against the clear injustice of the evil mom and pop shop. The communist must understand the needs of the people and learn from their immense wisdom, while also teaching the people about socialism.

Then, once a socialist regiment has been established, they must storm the evil mom and pop shop and liquidate it and let it be brought under party control. The PBs should be left to the people to be dealt with as they see fit. Finally, the area must be organised into a socialist base area where cadres engage in mutual aid with the people as the people's war continues. Once the people's war has been won, the area will turn into a commune.

It has been and will never be okay.

That is rather harsh. I don't support murdering people in the name of anything. I just want my people to survive in the shambling hellscape that is my country. People starve on the streets and everyone pretends to care with empty platitudes. My state is the only refuge for my friends with disabilities and us lower class that can't afford groceries under this system. So instead, I acknowledge the system is flawed, while also using public aid until I can work again. Do I like this? Fick no. Do I have a choice? I don't even know the locals but have treaded lightly when I found an anarchist commune while urban exploring. I dared not summon them, instead, I made a small gesture of throwing trash from the road into their waste bin. I made sure to not linger.

There is a lot for me to unpack here. I just live in Late Stage Capitalism hell and can't even think that far ahead. I do understand your perspective to a degree. I have given my phone number to countless people. My phone rings no matter what time of day it is. I help any way I can. Mutual aid is what we need more than anything in this day and age, no matter our opinions are. It is a means to an end, which is why I try to help everyone out. There are very few people I would think twice about cutting out of my life. Half my family would drop me like a hot rock because "Communism bad, managed shadow democracy good".

I need to do some reading to better engage in an open dialogue. I believe community is our strength, and that human nature defaults to good. My altruism has led to countless people taking advantage of me. I will not ever stop helping others, even if their politics are different than mine.
