Intellectualism as a concept can't exist without anti-intellectualism.
If anti-intellectuals and contrarians didn't mutually construct intellectualism to oppose or be opposed as being, intellectuals / intelligentsia simply wouldn't exist.
- It would just be called "being studious" and would be something everyone would admit that they do on some level rather than being a role that grifters can hide behind when being called out for being intellectually dishonest.
