I will here make my self criticism for a post I made yesterday in the iran war thread, for which I was warned by our somewhat vigilant janguard, which I must thank for its leniency (probably due to the recognition of it as an isolated incident in an otherwise frequent and somewhat valuable posting)

The preeminent religious elements and complete lack of anti imperialism thinking while pretending to be marxist infuriated me. This lead to a lapse in judgment on my part and a post which displayed reactionary thinking.
Now to move on to my subpar post itself.
It displays first a broad generalization of an extremely large and diverse religious group, as if "the sunnis" were a united bloc despite spanning a large amount of very different countries and populations, or systematically in agreement with their governments despite being generally heavily repressed politically by those. It should have at least targeted precisely the sunnis acting in support of imperialism: the petro monarchies ruling classes in bed with imperialism, the religious militias doing the bidding of the imperialists and attacking innocent people, the sunni supremacists cheering for ethnic and religious conflict, the useful idiot pretending an equivalence between sides in the midst of an imperial aggression on a periphery country under siege for its refusal to bow to the hegemonic imperial world order.
Secondly, it display liberal moralism rather than materialist thinking by focusing on what some people "deserve" as if that mattered. Worse, it expressed the wish for harm for those who "deserve" it rather than wishing for a positive justice or a conversion toward more class consciousness. And even worse, it wished that harm to come from the very imperialists and zionists that should be opposed at every turn, indirectly wishing for imperialism and zionism to cause more harm to people, an unacceptable and indefensible position.
So while I still think that criticizing the post I was responding to was the correct course of action, the manner in which I did it was deeply wrong and misguided.
And so I recognize today that it was a shameful behavior that deserved repression.
