How do you distinguish mild autism from just being weird?

I have wondered this to. And from obseving a clinically-diagnosed autist friend I concluded I am just weird, I have seen her some times have sensory issues while I haven't. I think there was more things but that was the main one

Why do you think you are weird?

that is the historical project of psychiatry, yes, diagnosing the weird vs the normal. thus, for psychiatrists, there is no difference.

>>766237
Weird (not pejorative)
I guesd because I'm here in the first place, I have uncommon interests, I am sometimes awkward, people have told me, sometimes I get conclusions other people don't, I dress badly…

fixations and sensory overloaf

>>766224
Anything outside of brain scans is guessing.

>>766258
What interests do you have?

computers/programming and linguistics, I also like lots of things to the point that a NT friend and ND friend tell me that I have hyperfoci but they also told me that my interest in moving to China that I had had for two months was an hyperfocus and their definitions are superblury, ambiguous and vibes-based that I don't believe them. I have never stopped eating/speaking to people/functioning for some current topic that I found interesting. (Another reason I know I am weird and not autistic)
For me "being weird" in being almost autistic, since its an spectrum and yada yada I believe I am borderlinely ND, but not far enough not to be it

>>766295
Hyperfocus is not a clinical term so yeah it is vibes based. What you're looking for is perseverance, a term that describes one's difficulty to switch from one task/object of focus to another.

I don't think computers or programming is uncommon. When you say linguistics, do you mean the actual academic field or just learning languages?

>>766298
Linguistic as in the academic field, I will go next year to that career. It started with conlanging when I was 14, which is a very weird hobby
I know computers and programming is not very uncommon, but there are different degrees. I like the more "hacker" aspect of it, not just python and such

What do you think of Esperanto?

>>766305
Aesthetically I don't like it a lot, there is some beauty (akin to that of Polish or Lithuanian) I have sometimes appreciated but overall is a pretty ugly language, like English, but at least not as ugly as German
As an IAL I think it's okay-ish to somewhat bad, but it was reasonable for it's time. The vocabulary is too western and the word sources are very weird, for example Spanish is very minimal compared to Italian or Latin. Although the roots are not really an issue, and can be a problem if they are too similar to your native language but has slightly different meanings. It's cool that they don't have a gender but that's the bare minimum. What's great about the vocabulary are the affixes, really cool and useful from the time I spent learning it (I am not an esperantist). What's bad is the phonology, too many phonemes… For example I personally struggle differencing /v/ and /b/ in English and Romanian, I can't notice the difference. /h/ and /x/ is another bad pair but luckily ĥ is being replaced either by k or h. I personally don't have problem with the affricatives but it can be an unncessary challange for some people, one affricative (/ts/~/tʃ/) would be more than enough. The phonotactics are a bit too much too, why kn-? I remember there were more syllabes like that but I can't remember which. The syllabe is too dense anyways, it should've been (C(L))V(C)
The grammar is okay too, maybe the participles are a bit hard at first but I don't think they are that hard. The accusative is very unnecessary tho. If you are going to have a case why not have more?
And as a project I am sad it didn't succeed, apparently it was very popular at the time. I remember reading Niebla from Unamuno and there was an esperantist anarchist uncle, it's always funny to find reference to esperanto in old media. I still need to learn more about its history tho, specially its history in China
I don't think Esperanto has any current possibility nowadays at succeeding, and if some day an IAL indeed becomes successful I hope it fixes Esperanto's mistakes

Labas <3

You can tell because is someone is Autistic and they are being weird then they are showing signs of Autism, but is someone is not autistic and they are being weird then they are being being retarded

>>766309
What does this mean? I don't speak Esperanto and wiktionary doesn't give me anything

Being weird is always tied to neurodivergency. Doesn’t have to be autism.
