Sometimes Ill find a book where the whole story can be summed up as "follow this random guys life", and I dont know if Im the only one, but to me thats just so fucking boring. I dont care that its "secretly deep", I dont care that your 50 pages long, dry dialogue scene is a deep dive into the human psyche, Im not reading that shit. This is why 99% of literature is slop and not worth reading at all, I disagree with this idea that books should be about people, no, people are irrelevant, your characters should exist merely as tools to narrate a specific point, your book should be about ideas: politics, religion, society.

…This is also why non-fiction is infinitely superior to fiction. You cant name a single non-fiction book that has this level of faggotry. Stop wasting your time reading slop and go read a science book, or a history book

The vast majority of fictional literature is usually “soul searching”: usually about some random strangers who meet on a public transport vehicle and quip about some mundane topic and “something just clicks”.

Most talk about spirituality is the same old cliches about “energy” and “interconnectedness” yet they don’t list anything relating to real world stuff.

Religious books are the exception because they center around people.
Or at least that’s what followers claim.
Most religious literature has the same moralistic platitudes

The problem is most people won't want to read it. self-fulfilling prophecy.

That’s the problem: most literature uses the same old cliche ideas of religion and politics. Granted said literature is excessively personalized but still

This kind of thread is just circlejerking if you don't name examples.

>I disagree with this idea that books should be about people

there's literally no way to convey these sort of highly conceptual ideas in a novel without dry-ass dialogue between characters, dumbass. at this point just read non-fiction forever, who cares.
