You think those platforms aren't also flooded with bots?

The harsh truth is the only place this leads is the deanonimization of the internet. Not necessarily to other users, but to ISPs, hosts, and the state. At the very least every major platform will implement a requirement to prove you're a real human being before you're allowed to create an account.

email and phone number don't tie you directly to your username to most people. i have like 15 email addresses i use for signups, in addition to an unlimited number of fake redirect addresses, and like 5 phone numbers or some shit i use for a number of things. IDs are significantly more invasive, not to mention just the general the process of verification is significantly more involved than just writing in an otp. it's just going to nuke websites that live or die by being easily accessible to lend themselves well to idle scrolling.

The amount of effort it takes to protect my privacy in the age of techno feudalism is astronomically high. Any attempt at making myself more private or cleaning it all up seems an insurmountable task, on top of the new habits that need to be formed for it to be effective. And if I can't avoid the brain hacking addiction of the internet and social media slop, how is the common man supposed to?
