>>1317Our primary dev has a job and life offline, he works on it when he can. I recently contributed to Netjester. Feature creep? Kinda. The most important thing we want to do before adding mods and jannies is ensure vichan hashes all IPs to obfuscate and keep IPs from being leaked. Other than that, the software we are building is held together by vichan. It has to be the biggest pile ot hot garbage PHP spaghetti code imaginable. Squash a bug and the entire board starts getting unrelated things fucking up.
We're also trying to mirror the site with each other's servers so no one has complete control except on the domain level to have the site brought down over petty shit. That is a fucking tall order but will hopefully be made easier since the whole setup is in a Docker container.
Please don't give up on us just yet. It doesn't help that most of us are in wildly different time zones. We want it badly too. If anyone is interested in being a mod, we will have recruitment. I'll make a new thread with the next major update as just a 42chan general.

Y'all right though. None of us are expert coders. But just about everything on 42chan works now. The entire board structure is done, posting works including webm and mp4, Netjester works, bans, mod panel, there isn't much left to do. Our main dev is overworked offline and hasn't had much time to spare. Please, continue to use 420chan.xyz and we will show what we have to offer outside of their niche. We aren't in some kind of competition.

I would also like to say as dev on this project. Were aiming for a close 1:1 recreation of 420chan.
It had many more features than most realize.
Those features were slowly built up over a decade. Were trying to do it in a few months.
This has been a big learning experience.
Its been 4 months since the site was supposed to launch on 4/20. I give up.

Kind of petty to go hack accounts over this but I don't really care.
We were 99% done on a jschan version then encountered an error we couldn't fix and the developer is an asshole who charges for help and provides no documentation for the software.
Got a vichan version 99% done and then they discontinued the development and left a bunch of zero days on it.
In our defence none of us were talking about monetising the site apart from ads to pay for the server which would come later.
The idea is/was to make a space for the old 420 community to talk on again.
but it was too hard to work from literal opposite timezones and coordinate times to work in between actual jobs.
If you want to call the design shit that's on me, but a lot of hours went into making it look nice.
Personally I wanted to add a lot of features I had with another guy. We wanted to make games and things for it like interactive little characters that could multiplay a bit like VR Chat on the page while one posts.
I have worked as a paid web developer but it's not like any of us have had jobs in management positions.

Soyteens can create a splinter website in like a few days but apparently for 420chan its an insurmountable feat, amazing. People get too tied up in adding too many fucking features, just create a normal ass imageboard with all the drug boards and /b/ and just move on from there.
