Who do you think the greatest military leader of all time was? You can answer whoever you think the answer is it doesn’t have to be from one of these photos, I just chose these because I ripped them off of a Wikipedia list of undefeated military leader. I don’t know anything about military strategy but I assume most people will answer Georgy Zhukov since he was undefeated and politically based.
I'd pick a Chinese general but idk who.
give me ideas.
This dude, Ambrogio Spinola, was considered one of the greatest commanders of the Spanish army of all time, and his military service didn't start until he was 34 and granted the rank of general from the jump. Cromwell also didn't begin military service until he was 42, and not only went on to be undefeated, he reorganized the Parliamentary forces to becoming the greatest army up until that point in British history, then, once he was commander-in-chief, he started wars with rival European powers and still won. Richard Taylor was probably one of the top 5 greatest generals of the Confederacy, and he was just a political appointee who was completely self-taught in the art of war. And of course there's Giap. A completely self-taught commander, who's military education consists of reading the Art of War, and researching about Napoleonic military history, Chinese Communist guerilla tactics, and Soviet military doctrine. He still dabbed on conventionally Clausewitzian-trained western commanders.
Some people are just naturally good at war.
