How much of this actually exists? Annie-may that's so embarrassingly incompetent that you can actually sit through and laugh at ironically, like a hilariously bad movie? It's normally a lot harder to do because every bit of animation has thought and effort put into it, so it just comes off as intolerably bad when it's bad. Unlike an incompetent movie, which is much easier for someone with a handheld camera to half-ass their way through to a finished product. Pic related, Psychic Wars is fucking terrible.

I felt this while watching the Elfen Lied dub. The anime had potential, but in the end, it was so over the top, I couldn't take it seriously. There's also a lot of tonal whiplash.

The thought of some action director unironically thinking this episode had quality action animation. Or the thought of some studio knowing it was garbage and intentionally shitting in their fans' throat for a climactic battle. Whichever was the case, they both made me laugh out loud. Anything that makes you puzzled over the intentions of its creator is prime so-bad-it's-good material.

I can think of quite a few, mostly because they're so over-the-top clichéd, rather than just completely incompetent:
&ltSacred Blacksmith
>nippon steel folded 1000-times waifus
&ltAnother
>ringu-type slasher j-horror totally over the top
&ltIchiban Ushiro no Dai Maō
>a.k.a. color wars, easter-egg assortment of cardboard cutout waifus with blatant wish-fulfillment protag
&ltZero no Tsukima
>tsundere waifu and pussywhipped horndog protag, cranked up to the point she literally keeps him as a pet and whips him for taking passes at girls
Also, not an anime, but if it were it would win in a walk:
&ltDungeon Seeker
>the edgiest most fanfic-tier isekai manga ever to edge an edge, almost reads like a parody, but it's absolutely 100% serious

 No.2566

>>2564
I'll admit I stopped after one season, having sated my thirst for meme juice. But so far as I could tell, the story was spectacularly lacking in self-awareness, both about its ridiculously rote characters, and about its own worldbuilding (for instance, the mind-control aspects of the summoning spell on the protag, which not only kept him loyal to the tsundere, but subtly erased his desire to return home, blithely ignored except as a vehicle to propel the plot).

Something with a similar dynamic, but actually good, would be Ghost Sweeper.

 No.2567

>>2566
I have to disagree with your reasoning, but I won't dump a rant on this (too lazy TBH). Zero's point was never to be really serious or deep, it was a simple and intentionally cliche Isekai that had fun with its gimmicks without overdoing it. It's a bit similar to Konosuba in that regard.

Victory Gundam, easily. The monolithic dumpster fire that came about from Bandai exec meddling and Tomino raging against them is a sight to behold.

>execs required more female characters

&ltintroduces an all female pilot team only to gruesomely kill them off once per episode
>execs required gundam to appear in the first ep
&ltTomino just made the fourth episode the first one which is confusing as fuck
>execs required the series to move to outerspace like old gundam so they could sell battleship kits
&ltthe show has a motocycle obsessed pilot become the designer for all their mechs and battleships
&ltthis let them have battleships with giant wheels so they could move the show back to earth
the coup de grâce of stupidity comes from the last stretch of the show where the bad guys literally have a giant mind control satelite that makes everyone act more retarded

Samurai Flamenco is pretty great in this regard. It starts as an unironically good anime version of Kickass or something before going violently and hilariously off the rails. Code Geass might be the most egregious example where every single country became the United States [insert country name here] (even when it makes no fucking sense like Japan) under the system of an even worse UN. Somehow weebtards still try to paint the story as anti-imperialism when the villain main scheme is the anti-communist dog whistle of “making everyone apart of a hivemind/the same”.
