has anybody else played LMR? i feel like im the only english speaker who did, or at least the only one that liked it going off the polarized reviews.
made by the same team as Everlasting Summer, it feels like an early 1900s russian novel in anime form. the protagonist is the quintessential antisocial superfluous man forced to confront his own pathetic shadow after his comfortable life of monotony is stolen from him, replaced by the threat of death at the hands of a political/corporate conspiracy looming over his shoulder 24/7.
my favorite theme of the story was its emphasis on the material conditions of the main characters. as the "Money" in the name implies, the wealth/class positions and divisions between them are constantly stressed. One heroines route delves into full on class warfare in which you kidnap the heiress to a company, another abuses drugs and frequently overdoses to cope with her lack of efficacy, etc.
all in all its a pretty solid story, though its clear they used a ton of russian words/phrases that don't translate properly so at times the dialogue can feel a bit choppy. the worst for me was a certain heroine who, while basically having no relevance/screentime if you dont go down her route, is a focal obsession of the main character regardless and the constant references to her get pretty grating at times. theres also sex if youre into that.
8/10
