ITT We discuss about our favorite Vtubers, corpo and indie alike. Liveposting, (Spoilered) Porn and Rateposting are all encouraged.
I'll start with my own recommendation:
Rie Himemiya from Phase Connect [EN] Gen 2 Phase Alias. A Vsinger with great covers and original songs such as Love Potion #520 and ゲテモノ (Bizarre Food) / Utsu-P ♡ to give you two examples.
Her streams as of now center around variety gaming such as her recent playthrough of Pokémon HG/SS as her first Pokémon game although she is mostly focused on Limbus Company and Library of Ruina as well as community projects like Date Ideas for Valentines season or making a love song out of Schizophrenic Maros.
However I do recommend her older VODs as well such as Sandtrix or Gayraoke for her humor and great chat interaction. If you want something more recent check out her 100 songs for 100k Christmas Special from last year. Remember to do your reps and backreading

>>27417Phase Connect is the VTubers I watch almost exclusively. I like Tenma, Lumi and Lia, they're funny. I did also watch Pomu, Selen and Kobo. But my favorite VTuber is actually HeavenlyFather from The Russian Badger, he destroys everyone, he's the goat. I love you, HeavenlyFather, don't leave me.
I mostly don't watch VTubers because I'm a very tough guy who does tough things like watching Hellsing Ultimate, playing Mortal Kombat, drinking Monster Energy and listening to Sonic R's soundtrack. Yeah. Yeah, I'm a very tough guy, I swear.
I'm a bit worried how vtubers will fare in the coming turmoil lads
Here's my favorite indie:
https://www.twitch.tv/mintcastellaShe's a big nerd who aside from playing games likes to talk about old sci fi media. I think she has a pretty wide breadth of interests outside of that and a sunny demeanor so she's great at talking with chat.
>>27438>she has said that her default model (the one with brown hair) is pretty similar to herI thought the point of having a model is for roleplaying as an anime girl so people don't know how you actually look like.
>>27440>I sometimes wonder why did they chose the people they chose for the first en genIt's normal for Japanese companies to have a seperate marketting team for the US (Nintendo of America, SEGA of America), Funimation is even a member of anime committees. They obviously knew what they were doing.
>>27452>>27449It's not a bit, it's kinda like when guys identifying with Patrick Bateman while ignoring the message.
As for what Needy Girl Overdose, it's basically a management sim where you play as a Vtuber who is very cunty and menhera who has to deal with the trappings of the industry while trying to grow her subscriber count. Fun fact: both Hime and Lia have their designs inspired by this game.
See for yourselves:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO9NewLSQuI >>27455>it's kinda like when [reactionaries] identifying with Patrick Bateman while ignoring the messageFixed it for ya.
I mean, it makes perfect sense for them to identify with him because they're just as shallow and unempathetic. Patrick Bateman being a serial killer is just a cherry on top, he's a classist, misogynistic, pretentious, greedy, consumeristic, narcissistic, envious, petty, clout-chasing, dishonest, virtue-signalling trust fund kid. In other words, an image of decadent bourgeoisie whom all these Andrew Tate cultists are trying to become.
>>27468>You're not a real fan if you don't support vtuber unionization.Of course I do. Unlike rightoids who site with employers 'cause they think worker unions are woke and greedy, like with the recent voice actor strike.
>>27471>LeftyPol is the same way as well. That's true. But I do genuinely like some people here so it's not completely trash.
>>27468While Unionization would be the ideal and I do support it's implementation, it is hard to pull off as many of the talents in Corporate Agencies live in completely different parts of the planet with different legislation and labor regulations creating a Byzantine situation when it comes to signing as Workers rather than Contractors, maybe creating subbranches for each Region (SEA, NA, LATAM, etc) rather than diving by languages would makes this more feasible, however I do recall that Phase Origins pushed for Unionization back when things when going to shit but never heard any details from the members about what their plan was or if they had any to begin with.
On the other hand I think it is important to remember how catty and backstabbing the whole scene is due to being downstream from Cosplaying circles where everyone knows/hates each other, making a true sense of solidarity that much more difficult to achieve.
Overall, it's more likely to happen as the Industry becomes more well established and mainstream in the future as abuse becomes much less bearable under favorable conditions plus the previously mentioned cattiness might push talents to work for better deals and using collective power/leverage.
What do you think would make Unionization in Corpos more feasible?
>>27546Oh wow hololive really will be sunk if she graduates. Hopefully we see her pop up somewhere else like Dokibird did.
Wonder if she could get away with being a shark if Hololive isn't there to sue her.
>>27551My guess is neither. I would expect if something really fucked was happening that Nimi or Dooby would at least spread innuendo against Holo, but I'm not aware of either doing that, suggesting that the issues are more mundane like lower pay or the bureaucratization like
>>27559 was talking about rather than abuse like Niji.
>>27551this is around the time they renew contracts so it probably has to do with pay and permits. I think this is less common in the jp branch because the fans there are less receptive towards "indie turns" and it is harder to do in general
for example, their main source of income is merch, and most of this money goes to cover, more than half, because they own the ip and they manage the logistics. dokibird is probably making substantially more money than gura because she sells her own merch. if anything, I'm surprised it took until 2024 for this to start happening. my guess is that this will become a common practice in the english sphere: joining a big corpo, creating a brand, and then spliting off
>>27623nazu is in STGR recovery right now
there is a relapse every now and thenbut she mostly does other stuff now like WZ with the gang
her latest obsession is a solo minecraft HC run which she chose to continue past ender dragon kill
>>27621>bro learned a language to consume average women podcast but in japanesenot a big fan of the idol shit either but I also don't like that
ALL you understand the hyperbole content made by women
has to be about sex. with hololive for example I admire the members that go an extra mile not to sexualize their models or do the "girlfriend experience" or "business yuri" stuff. even though cover is responsible, like any other japanese showbiz agency, of creating and/or adopting the idol nonsense, and incentivizing the culture around it (unicorns and such)
>>27749Personally I like watching tournaments like Vsai. Following teams through their training arcs and all the highs and lows, seeing them get emotional at the results is what does it for me. That and listening to people chat about banal shit makes me feel less lonely.
But originally it was for jp practice.
>>27757Graduation means that the character will be retired and that no more content will be made under that name.
Theoretically the character could return for special events if the person behind the character and the company (if the character was part of a company) made an agreement to do so but that has not really happened yet.
There are signs that Amelia Watson
might have gone such a path, but only time will tell.
Further notes:
In the context of vtuber corporations, graduation means that the person behind the character has for whatever reason has decided they cannot or do not want to continue being that character and will officially "resign" from the company.
Vtuber hell: This is known as "termination", where the company has reached the conclusion that a breach of the actor's contract has occurred that cannot be forgiven and that the actor will be fired. (The breaches of contract can range from behavior to providing a third party with confidential information about the operation of the company).
In contrast to a graduation, a termination is pretty immediate in the eye of the public, therefore the talent will not have a last hurrah of final streams, other audio-video content or communication with fans/coworkers before their departure.
Finally, the "terminated" talent will not be mentioned by the company on their website's list of "graduated" talents or in communications to the public, unless there's like merch in production that the company might give fans the option to cancel their orders of.
>>27757It's Japanese corpo slang for firing someone (or someone quitting) that they use to shield themselves from backlash because admitting a beloved idol has had enough of the company would draw negative attention to it
Of course most idol fans are dogshit fucking stupid so they fall for it
>>27764except the fans always side with the artist. the vtubers that go indie after being fired have been significantly more successful than they were under a company. as a matter of fact, once a vtuber has reached a certain size I would say that being under a company becomes counter productive both for the artist and the audience. whenever a corpo vtuber "graduates", and specially if they have experience being independent, fans see it as something positive because there is a chance they will come back more motivated (no corporate bullshit + more money) and with more creative freedom
and it isn't black and white, you have cases like skye shinryu where the company fired her but agreed to sell her the IP for the character. these aren't factory jobs, the current meta is using companies as stepping stones
based and that's how it should be. the japanese companies don't take it kindly but at this point I think they understand that making any drama only benefits the artist
