ITT We discuss about our favorite Vtubers, corpo and indie alike. Liveposting, (Spoilered) Porn and Rateposting are all encouraged.
I'll start with my own recommendation:
Rie Himemiya from Phase Connect [EN] Gen 2 Phase Alias. A Vsinger with great covers and original songs such as Love Potion #520 and ゲテモノ (Bizarre Food) / Utsu-P ♡ to give you two examples.
Her streams as of now center around variety gaming such as her recent playthrough of Pokémon HG/SS as her first Pokémon game although she is mostly focused on Limbus Company and Library of Ruina as well as community projects like Date Ideas for Valentines season or making a love song out of Schizophrenic Maros.
However I do recommend her older VODs as well such as Sandtrix or Gayraoke for her humor and great chat interaction. If you want something more recent check out her 100 songs for 100k Christmas Special from last year. Remember to do your reps and backreading
https://www.youtube.com/@HimemiyaRie/streamshttps://nitter.net/HimemiyaRiehttps://open.spotify.com/intl-es/artist/6tKYFARX2bMPlQwglwXNoBWhen it comes to membership content, for Tier 1 you get members exclusive covers, static and animated wallpapers, exclusive community posts and access to her art archive.
>>27417Phase Connect is the VTubers I watch almost exclusively. I like Tenma, Lumi and Lia, they're funny. I did also watch Pomu, Selen and Kobo. But my favorite VTuber is actually HeavenlyFather from The Russian Badger, he destroys everyone, he's the goat. I love you, HeavenlyFather, don't leave me.
I mostly don't watch VTubers because I'm a very tough guy who does tough things like watching Hellsing Ultimate, playing Mortal Kombat, drinking Monster Energy and listening to Sonic R's soundtrack. Yeah. Yeah, I'm a very tough guy, I swear.
I'm a bit worried how vtubers will fare in the coming turmoil lads
Here's my favorite indie:
https://www.twitch.tv/mintcastellaShe's a big nerd who aside from playing games likes to talk about old sci fi media. I think she has a pretty wide breadth of interests outside of that and a sunny demeanor so she's great at talking with chat.
>>27438>she has said that her default model (the one with brown hair) is pretty similar to herI thought the point of having a model is for roleplaying as an anime girl so people don't know how you actually look like.
>>27440>I sometimes wonder why did they chose the people they chose for the first en genIt's normal for Japanese companies to have a seperate marketting team for the US (Nintendo of America, SEGA of America), Funimation is even a member of anime committees. They obviously knew what they were doing.
>>27452>>27449It's not a bit, it's kinda like when guys identifying with Patrick Bateman while ignoring the message.
As for what Needy Girl Overdose, it's basically a management sim where you play as a Vtuber who is very cunty and menhera who has to deal with the trappings of the industry while trying to grow her subscriber count. Fun fact: both Hime and Lia have their designs inspired by this game.
See for yourselves:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO9NewLSQuI >>27455>it's kinda like when [reactionaries] identifying with Patrick Bateman while ignoring the messageFixed it for ya.
I mean, it makes perfect sense for them to identify with him because they're just as shallow and unempathetic. Patrick Bateman being a serial killer is just a cherry on top, he's a classist, misogynistic, pretentious, greedy, consumeristic, narcissistic, envious, petty, clout-chasing, dishonest, virtue-signalling trust fund kid. In other words, an image of decadent bourgeoisie whom all these Andrew Tate cultists are trying to become.
>>27468>You're not a real fan if you don't support vtuber unionization.Of course I do. Unlike rightoids who site with employers 'cause they think worker unions are woke and greedy, like with the recent voice actor strike.
>>27471>LeftyPol is the same way as well. That's true. But I do genuinely like some people here so it's not completely trash.
>>27468While Unionization would be the ideal and I do support it's implementation, it is hard to pull off as many of the talents in Corporate Agencies live in completely different parts of the planet with different legislation and labor regulations creating a Byzantine situation when it comes to signing as Workers rather than Contractors, maybe creating subbranches for each Region (SEA, NA, LATAM, etc) rather than diving by languages would makes this more feasible, however I do recall that Phase Origins pushed for Unionization back when things when going to shit but never heard any details from the members about what their plan was or if they had any to begin with.
On the other hand I think it is important to remember how catty and backstabbing the whole scene is due to being downstream from Cosplaying circles where everyone knows/hates each other, making a true sense of solidarity that much more difficult to achieve.
Overall, it's more likely to happen as the Industry becomes more well established and mainstream in the future as abuse becomes much less bearable under favorable conditions plus the previously mentioned cattiness might push talents to work for better deals and using collective power/leverage.
What do you think would make Unionization in Corpos more feasible?
>>27546Oh wow hololive really will be sunk if she graduates. Hopefully we see her pop up somewhere else like Dokibird did.
Wonder if she could get away with being a shark if Hololive isn't there to sue her.
>>27551My guess is neither. I would expect if something really fucked was happening that Nimi or Dooby would at least spread innuendo against Holo, but I'm not aware of either doing that, suggesting that the issues are more mundane like lower pay or the bureaucratization like
>>27559 was talking about rather than abuse like Niji.
>>27551this is around the time they renew contracts so it probably has to do with pay and permits. I think this is less common in the jp branch because the fans there are less receptive towards "indie turns" and it is harder to do in general
for example, their main source of income is merch, and most of this money goes to cover, more than half, because they own the ip and they manage the logistics. dokibird is probably making substantially more money than gura because she sells her own merch. if anything, I'm surprised it took until 2024 for this to start happening. my guess is that this will become a common practice in the english sphere: joining a big corpo, creating a brand, and then spliting off
>>27623nazu is in STGR recovery right now
there is a relapse every now and thenbut she mostly does other stuff now like WZ with the gang
her latest obsession is a solo minecraft HC run which she chose to continue past ender dragon kill
>>27621>bro learned a language to consume average women podcast but in japanesenot a big fan of the idol shit either but I also don't like that
ALL you understand the hyperbole content made by women
has to be about sex. with hololive for example I admire the members that go an extra mile not to sexualize their models or do the "girlfriend experience" or "business yuri" stuff. even though cover is responsible, like any other japanese showbiz agency, of creating and/or adopting the idol nonsense, and incentivizing the culture around it (unicorns and such)
>>27749Personally I like watching tournaments like Vsai. Following teams through their training arcs and all the highs and lows, seeing them get emotional at the results is what does it for me. That and listening to people chat about banal shit makes me feel less lonely.
But originally it was for jp practice.
>>27757Graduation means that the character will be retired and that no more content will be made under that name.
Theoretically the character could return for special events if the person behind the character and the company (if the character was part of a company) made an agreement to do so but that has not really happened yet.
There are signs that Amelia Watson
might have gone such a path, but only time will tell.
Further notes:
In the context of vtuber corporations, graduation means that the person behind the character has for whatever reason has decided they cannot or do not want to continue being that character and will officially "resign" from the company.
Vtuber hell: This is known as "termination", where the company has reached the conclusion that a breach of the actor's contract has occurred that cannot be forgiven and that the actor will be fired. (The breaches of contract can range from behavior to providing a third party with confidential information about the operation of the company).
In contrast to a graduation, a termination is pretty immediate in the eye of the public, therefore the talent will not have a last hurrah of final streams, other audio-video content or communication with fans/coworkers before their departure.
Finally, the "terminated" talent will not be mentioned by the company on their website's list of "graduated" talents or in communications to the public, unless there's like merch in production that the company might give fans the option to cancel their orders of.
>>27757It's Japanese corpo slang for firing someone (or someone quitting) that they use to shield themselves from backlash because admitting a beloved idol has had enough of the company would draw negative attention to it
Of course most idol fans are dogshit fucking stupid so they fall for it
>>27764except the fans always side with the artist. the vtubers that go indie after being fired have been significantly more successful than they were under a company. as a matter of fact, once a vtuber has reached a certain size I would say that being under a company becomes counter productive both for the artist and the audience. whenever a corpo vtuber "graduates", and specially if they have experience being independent, fans see it as something positive because there is a chance they will come back more motivated (no corporate bullshit + more money) and with more creative freedom
and it isn't black and white, you have cases like skye shinryu where the company fired her but agreed to sell her the IP for the character. these aren't factory jobs, the current meta is using companies as stepping stones
based and that's how it should be. the japanese companies don't take it kindly but at this point I think they understand that making any drama only benefits the artist
>>27807f
>>27806Beni's team does look fun, but then again I have seen Gorilla on teams with awful vibes. Like Vsai4 or the Gachinko Series. No way anyone is taking this that seriously, though.
I'm not familiar with the guys on Kuromu's team. I know Mukai is a former pro, but no idea who Dasoku is. Honestly, I sort of closed the window when Kuromu started doing the oxygen bit in her first stream and haven't watched her since. Maybe I should give them a shot.
>>27839>>27841>"hurr durr muh pedos">video: "cunny" "cunny" "sex">namefagopinion discarded
>>27843it the other way around from the shit i've on discord and twitter
>>27614>>27613>>27617>>27546>because its shark vtuber fan 9/11good.
senzawa>gawr gura
>>27481Even fucking kpop stans, as deranged and parasocial as they are, understood years ago how all companies are shit and they should only support the talents working under them
Instead the vtubing commuunity acted like every nijisanji en talent they dislike is an evil bully mastermind while using dokis attempts as an excuse to be absolutely vile, when in reality they hate niji because the talents and fans are more "woke"
Until recently they kept dickriding yagoo as if clover wasnt also shit
>>27839Whatering down pedophilia aside, even if most shondo fans are retarded rightoids and her voice is annoying i do feel bad for her recently, with her mom dying and her getting doxxed like a month later
I dont think her and pippa are actual nazis like asmongold cocksucker kirsche, they just grew up with edgy channer humor and now have an unbereable audience they cant run away from
>>27874>any social media is shittyNo shit
Just stop using sites like twitter where there both "sides" on the same site, with it's algorithm guesses shown for you.
OP post is still accurate, you doing the same thing with the reddit meme you posted at this point.
>>27867They know they will get harassed for asking their fans to stop being edgy nazi wannabes
Not saying they arent fucking stupid for building an audience like that, i just dont think they are actual nazis
>>27883brother she got that audience by making clips praising asmongold or whatever his name is. they know chuds are the main twitch audience, that is by no means a secret. fascism might not be the mainstream among the youth, but the average liberal doesn't watch vtubers or buy merch, much less the average leftist
funnily enough, this also means that her audience aren't unicorns because they don't mind the fascination with right-wing commentators. is it really bad if she got doxxed? vtubers these days seem to have rather boring lives and didn't do anything before vtubing. it isn't like keekihime
I hope she writes an autobiography some day, she is the forrest gump of degenerate otaku culture and drama >>27546Literally never cared about her
>>27556>do you guys know futaguchi mana?Yeah.
>do you like her? She's fine. Her vocals are nice.
>>27958Very long post:
Of the EN graduates, Ame, Fauna and Gura seem to have graduated due to some frustrations with the bureaucracy of Hololive. Some elements of that bureaucracy include the company having to get written permission from game and music publishers for games to be played on stream and for song covers to be uploaded onto youtube. Both processes seem to be pretty lengthy and pretty costly in the case of english language covers. Although I will note that these processes have their roots in Capcom issuing copyright strikes against one of the Holo JP's channels all the back in 2020, the music side was further impacted in the winter of 2021 when some idiotic streamer loudly flouted the youtube copyright rules when he moved over from twitch, causing Hololive to impose further restrictions by discouraging the old loophole of talents being able to have karaoke streams with songs the company didn't have explicit permission to use by just making sure to private the stream afterwards. The unarchived karaoke was revived pretty quickly after this, but in a zombified form where talents had to use songs available from the karaoke website karafun and with the further stipulation that no Disney songs could be sung.
Another aspect of Hololive bureaucracy is the company sometimes letting talent projects die in limbo: see Gura's song Full Cover that was sung at a concert but will now never be officially released, according to the composers that worked on it. The last element I'll mention is the fact that there's a ton of company meetings that tend to be scheduled at shitty times for the talents outside of Japan.
>>27960Little bit more about the graduates then discussion of non Holo vtubers:
Gura:
Gura has said that in addition to the bureaucratic runaround she's been stressed by having so many eyes on her (both from the public and the company).
Mumei:
She primarily graduated due to her throat being damaged by illness awhile ago, she says she probably would have stayed if not for that, see the site in
>>27953 to see how much she loves the singing aspect of Hololive.
Acknowledgement of non hololive vtubers:
Collabs with non hololive vtubers aren't the most common thing in the world, but there's still a decent amount. Here's some off the top of my head:
Kiara:Aura GX (yes, the opera vtuber lol), Mint Fantome (formerly Pomu from Nijisanji)
Calli:Boogey Vox (a former duo of Japanese rappers that she knew pre Holo) She even made 2 songs with them and brought them on to perform those with her at her 3D showcase before the duo broke up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh-1YSwRHfkAnother one that Calli has collabed with was Milkyqueen (pre holo friend that actually encouraged her to apply for the company, Milkyqueen herself sadly graduated from her tiny company pretty recently)
Ina: Pikamee/Henya
The Japanese talents also occasionally collab with non hololive vtubers both in the form of musical performances, fps tournaments and more casual gaming/chatting streams (main ones I know off the top of my head are Inuyama Tamaki (manga artist that vtubes) and Hoshikawa Sara from Nijisanji.
TLDR:Hololive members do collab with non Holo vtubers, but it's not common, especially due to the bureaucratic vetting/contract making process (if the vtuber is from a company rather than independent) and just the basic fact that Hololive provides a 'default' group of people to collab with.
Interestingly, Hololive Indonesia collabs with non Hololive vtubers and even regular streamers the most often, likely due to there being only 9 talents in this branch and the ID management encouraging them to integrate into the ID internet sphere so that they get more eyes from both companies and viewers (maybe due to there being less money to go around the ID internet in comparison to the anglophone or japanese audience?)
>>27961kinda eop answer, the JP side has chuubers who constantly collab outside the corpo, most prominently wannabe vspos like towa, aki, lapu
also one special case is collabs with graduated holos, since Choco and Mel had to jump on their PLs for collabs with Kson it seems like they aren't allowed to collab with ex-holos on holo accounts - it could also just be that they want to avoid having to make any kind of definitive ruling on the matter
Rika (formerly Mel) recently talked about playing RP games with Ririka of holo devis (& Sumire of vspo)
if she is gonna join a big streamer server like VCR (which she did once as Mel shortly before getting axed, and she was pushing hard to get into the vspo circle) its gonna test that rule since holos will almost certainly join
hearing her do the hajimemashites with aki/choco/matsuri would be weird
>>28048>I also hate how they try so hard to look like very young idols with childish voices. It's… bizarre (I won't deny that I watch it sometimes, but it's weird bro).?????
>I honestly hate that there are so many ultra-right VTubers. It's a medium very vulnerable to the Alt-Right (I know the Alt-Right doesn't exist as such, but it's an example. Is this true or is this exaggeration?
Because I had to deal with people complaining about everything being "too leftist" for years.
Most left or right that I see on average is liberal
>>28067I bet the VTubers themselves probably don't. At least not as much compared to their audience.
And who knows if they play Vidya or watch anime as much you'd assume they would?
>>28070The VTuber fandom seems "left-wing"/Democrat because of its "wholesome" and "kawaii" appearance, also because, ironically, its apolitical atmosphere gives you the standard impression that it should be that way. However, you only have to dig a little to find weird stuff (obsessive fans, racist jokes, doxxing, even VTubers who are literally non-ironic neo-Nazis. They're weird, but trust me, it's not good to stumble upon one of those; they're embarrassing). By the way, a few years ago, they wanted to cancel Mana for denouncing the Nazism of the Azovians. I think they even tried to dox her for it. The idiot liberals on Reddit got really angry about her tweets. LMAO
>>28071paradoxically, most english vtubers aren't white. I would say 30% are latinx or mixed, 25% chinese/korean/japanese, 15% SEA, 10% slav/med/german, 10% actual WASP, and 10% other
it kind of matches the demographics of 4chan and pretty much all international anime communities now that I think about it. there is a background of racism though, the fact that there are so few black voice actresses is definitely a hint, or the fact that they are so shy about it
>>28115imagine listening to mori/demondice
it is so fucking weird, much like *pop this is content that goes through the motions of music but it is not, and I don't know what to call it
>>28117Panko leans hard into the RW grift as well and feels like she's mimicking Tenma. I liked her until it became her personality.
>>28123The founding members of Phase Connect, like Tenma, are among the earliest and the peak of RW grifters in the VTuber community.
>>27857> her mom dying and her getting doxxed like a month laterthat happened? I dont keep up with vtubers in general so I dont know what goes on with them that often. Damn, on top of losing someone else a few years ago which I think was her dad but im not sure from how she phrased it in character. Her mom seemed like a cool person too. I hope Shondo is doing okay, can't be good for her already troubled mental health.
>>27867> Yeah that's why they keep pandering to them huh? Poor little streamers who'd rather do this than get a job.I smell bacon.
>>28137nta but corpo vtubers always keep a very sanitized image so any slip is seen as a big statement. tenma has used the "rope" meme when referring to (but not explicitly mentioning) trans outrage over a videogame. panko has used a "freedom of expression" type dogwhistles. it is not overt, but these are winks towards the chuds. in their defense I have to reiterate the obvious: that's where the money is, liberals and leftists don't spend money on chuubas. there is a small segment of gay men that do, but only for the more idol-ish ones
as a consolation prize, they both despise their own audiences
>>28158you mean they go along with the audience even if they despise them?
it is stockholm syndrome and it is proof that ss is fake, they are doing it for an economic reason, not because of some fancy brain hack
>>28151Tenma and Panko and anyone else courting chuds are bad at long term thinking. Right wingers are not loyal in the slightest. People rightfully see it as chudslop and/or coomerslop now.
There was a period when holomyth first debuted, that people were genuinely hopeful for vtubing as a community or 'scene'. That hope is gone now. Vtubing reputation is in the gutter thanks to the hardcore rightoid grifters. At this point you could genuinely get better numbers without a live2d than with one, even if you're ugly as shit.
They had a real chance to build something long-lasting, resembling the vocaloid community based around community collaboration and creation. That window of opportunity is long gone now.
Ironically, vtubing in the east is fairly stable. While its numbers in the west are dropping like flies. Nobody is coming into the fandom, but many are leaving out of boredom.
Is there any that pander to leftists? i know there was a nijisanji male vtuber that was all about palestine, but I swear he got outed for being a weird discord pest or graduated, but nijisanji as a whole just comes off as a tainted agency nowadays. Phase connect also has so much more freedom compared to other agencies, so its not uncommon to see one trending for saying some dumb shit.
>>27857pippa at most is a trumptard, her whole likes list was full of trump tweets.
>>27839 this fiend panders hard to chuds and I'm not talking about all the pedo loli garbage.
>>28151>liberals and leftists don't spend money on chuubas. there is a small segment of gay men that do, but only for the more idol-ish oneswtf kinda post is this
how would you even begin to get the data for this
>>28233No we don’t.
