There is but one ultimate way

http://ru.sword-art-online.wikia.com/wiki/There_is_but_one_ultimate_way >>4415>>3797>>3902 So I decided to watch the anime after all and I have to say that while not total waste of time, with some interesting ideas and twists, some of it gets tiresome similar to many harem anime. By episode 9 this nigga has Ruka literally ready to go all the way and who genuinely is into him, yet he just blue balls himself for some fucking reason, and Mizuhara, while a new twist on Tsundere, is still a Tsun and therefore a heck of a lot of trouble, that for a dude like the MC, is not going to work. They keep unnecessarily dragging this out and the manga keeps going. This is why harem anime is something I both love and hate, generic ones are boring, but occasionally you'll get one that does the tropes of haremlife in a new way or subverts them or just plausibly builds up the harem. This gets the subverting tropes part right, but then fails to capitalize on the harem part that it's clearly going for. Fuck, if they didn't want to abandon the whole "fake relationship for grandmas" they could just have hi go with him having 2 consenting girlfriends Ta-da!
Ugh I'm thinking about this too much… TL:DR: Good ideas and concept but some poor dragged out execution.
>>4486What the fuck, is Takahashi involved in this? Can't

The new animated Lord of the Rings seems promising, it's premise is interesting being a distant prequel and Kenji Kamiyama who is one of the directors is well known for his involvement in Patlabor, Jin-Roh, Ghost in a Shell series and more.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_War_of_the_RohirrimHaha, the new season of Beastars - it's a mess folks! Mind you, I still enjoyed watching it, but it it's not nearly as filling a meal as it could/should have been. It leaves so many threads dangling you can weave a whole other series out of it, and those threads that do get resolved end up bunched in a tangled mess.
To a degree this is a first world problem; there is so much good stuff thrown out that could be built on, and you can never do it all. The sweet spot of a good setting with a clear central conflict, enough edginess and gore to maintain tension, and the cheat code of anthropomorphic characters (it's a cheat because even without doing any characterization they come preloaded with all their animal motifs and themes). You can have a character star in one scene and it'll be enough to want to watch another three episodes to see their life lived out - and you just can't do that for everyone. Fine.
But even when you take that into account, the degree to which main characters are just dropped, have their roles truncated, etc. is staggering. Haru - nothing to do a whole season. Juno - does two plotlines that go nowhere and then dropped. Jack - a few heartfelt moments and then dropped. Drama club still figures but apart from two characters they're all just filler. Black market arc is just retracing steps from the past season. Leo gang arc seems like it's building up to something but then it just ends on a dead stop. And the main plot, who ate Tem, answered in episode five iirc, yet it takes the rest of the season to resolve - and in such a clumsy stop-start fashion too. I get why just calling the cops wouldn't do, they needed to build on the central theme of the season (herbivore - carnivore "love") and explore it, yada ya. But then at the very end they actually do just call the cops. this is funny to me
This could have been paced and structured so much better without making too many fundamental changes. I've heard the manga is pretty retarded at times too, but that's something you fix in an adaptation, not make worse.
Star Wars: Visions is an upcoming anime adaptation and a lot of the characters and aesthetics look based and samurai champloo levels of effort. The only thing that bugged me is the girls from Studio Trigger's "The Twins" episode clip, cause it's that same annoying transparent hair over eye girl design that really doesn't mesh with the rest of the animation comparatively, this might be an unpopular opinion but this stylization, especially in Kill la Kill is just obnoxious to me, it's dialing up the Magical Girl art-style of the 90s but without the budgetary animation reasons that the 90s anime had.
https://archive.md/Idz21 Anyone interested in this Space Opera do see the Star Wars thread
>>>/hobby/2737>>10054I actually watched Ordinal Scale with a friend for the meme,it's actually so bad it becomes funny.
I lost my shit when Kirito was fighting a dude in a fucking power armor by himself in a parking, and they were both using fake AR swords as weapons (they're like small wiimotes you hold that project the weapon in your vision) like it was actually happening.
Yui really is the worst character/plot hole in the entire series too,she can fucking pirate anything electronic IRL somehow, but this is never used properly,at best they use it to infiltrate the goddamn pentagon equivalent in Japan, which is profoundly retarded.
>>10077Dude just straight up remove the power suit core with his bare hands, while the other dude moves so fast he can jump off walls and make dents in the wall with a fake sword.
I had a clip with an english DUB,but then I remembered that the fight was constently being interrupted by the bad guy explaining why he has to kill everybody (this is a stupid plot point too btw about collecting memories to create a neural network AI that becomes a copy of his girl) to resurect his daughter,so I just picked this edited japanese one.
(the context/what he's saying is he was a part of SAO with a girl he liked, and she fucking died, she's also the daughter of the bad guy,so he's mad because he lost one of his friend and nobody gave an actual shit because he didn't risk his life while kirito survived with everybody and is actually praised as a savior,so he's working with the bad guy to have her back, kirito is a goddamn detective with Yui and Asuna who found out about the plot and decided to stop it)
>>10079>>10075>Ordinal ScaleKek I remember that idiocy.
Alicization is pretty insane too given the bullshit he pulls off to defeat the villainess. Bitch is literally an immortal object and is discount Kaguya Otsutsuki in powers but still loses because bullshit plot armor.
>>11528You can,as long as you don't waste your time plowing through the bad because you think they're is going to be something good after, you just drop it,because no,it doesn't get better.
Also her character growth is fucking ruined lmao.
>>11528>>11529He barely pops up even in the later arcs and her character past, though interesting, is kind of just there and goes nowhere. You're better off reading fancomics and clips of the anime.
That said if you can enjoy BnHA, go ahead. But if you seek to understand the things you are running into
>>429 Takt Op. Destiny
Plot Summary: In the story of the anime, one day a black meteorite fell on the world, and the world completely changed. The meteorite produced grotesque monsters called D2, which started running rampant. D2 very quickly banned all music, which was the one thing able to overcome them. But there were some people who resisted the D2. They are young women who hold the power of music, the "Musicart." These young women hold "scores" that are able to defeat the monsters. And there are also people who lead these women, the Conductor. The anime takes place in America in the year 2047, which has fallen to ruin thanks to the D2. Takt, a Conductor, is partnered with a Musicart named Unmei. Takt yeans for music to be returned to the world, and Unmei wishes to destroy the D2. Their aim is to travel to New York.
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Music
Personally too esoteric for me, but an interesting and fairly original concept compared to the dime-a-dozen SoL shit today, though the art style outside of the fights leaves much to be desired.
>>21883and episode 1 of the first season for comparison
I knew something was wrong when they put underwear on the girls and instead of having the captive girl's
fingers cut off they instead
have her fully clothed and just have nails driven into her hands.
What the fuck happened
>>21887>What the fuck happenedI think they decided to reel back the violence, maybe because of pressure from marketing or whatever, or perhaps they just didn't want to bother animating something like that…. or maybe the goblins hijacked the studio
Goblin Slayer is no Berserk but it was pretty compelling and interestingly distinct from other fantasy anime of the same time, so this is just irritating to see. I'm not a guy that likes gratuitous violence, but that was precisely the reason I liked S1, it was violent, but it made sense why it was so bloody. They treated rape as a horrific thing and didn't hide it beyond basic public censorship, which I also appreciated, given most anime's aversion to treating rape seriously.
At least we still have the manga.
>>21888>888Checked
>they decided to reel back the violence, maybe because of pressure from marketing or whatever, or perhaps they just didn't want to bother animating something like that…. Probably, lame as that is.
>or maybe the goblins hijacked the studio Ironic
>>21882The plot felt like a filler and the build-up failed to deliver, same as with the movie.
