I want some books for learning about anti-essentialist thought, as well as spotting and refuting essentialist talking points and lines of reasoning. Even books about essentialism in general would be helpful.

Introduction to dialectical materialism. What is commonly known as essentialist is largely congruent, I think (it's been a long time), with what the autor calls "metaphysical". I wouldn't use that term for it, however I suppose it makes sense in context.
