/edu/ - Education

'The weapon of criticism cannot, of course, replace criticism of the weapon, material force must be overthrown by material force; but theory also becomes a material force as soon as it has gripped the masses.' - Karl Marx

Grad degrees are legit if you have a field with A LOT of information. The higher you go the more specific stuff you learn.

The deal is that getting a BA is kind of exactly like high school. You take the same range of classes and don't focus on much. So, it's like a movie that starts an hour in.

Back in the 30s etc you could become a doctor in like four years, now it takes 12 and doctors don't know that much. I mean a general practitioner.

If a four year degree was specialized, you would not need a masters.

In psychology, they try to wear you out with all you must do. So, it's a money hustle and to keep people out.

well, the problem is, people are motivated by the lie of college education being a golden ticket for cushy living

Colleges now profit off of money hungry idealistic proles who "want more out of life"

Colleges help promote the institution of adolescence

not guy you're replying to but colleges are structured, guard-railed environments that often do everything they can to provide basically emotional soothing and 'support' that goes way past what an actual adult should need. They do this because it reduces drop-outs/keeps the tuition money going. But college students certainly aren't fully growing into adulthood while eating at dining halls and attending student union movie nights.

Wrong.
Having emotional support and recreational amenities isn't coddling. Would you consider military and corporate workplaces doing the same?
What I mean by college helps extend adolescence is that they impose idealistic/anti-worldly beliefs.
They enslave young people with endless classes and implicate that having relationships with older people is predatory.
They don't offer free life skill training.

im applying to master's programs, but i need letter of recs and none of these profs r responding smh. whats a brother gotta do to give a university 50k for 1 years worth of shitty instruction around here

This is why college education is going to shit.
Youre treating college as mating club esoecially when youre over thirty.
