Maxime Weygand

Weygand was recalled to command the Allied armies in France on May 20, 1940, when German forces were already overwhelming the French defenses. He advised the French government to capitulate, a decision that led to the French collapse in June 1940. In North Africa, he persuaded young officers who were tempted to join the French Resistance, to go along with the armistice for the present, by letting them hope for a later resumption of combat. With the complicity of Admiral Jean-Marie Charles Abrial, he deported opponents of Vichy to concentration camps in Southern Algeria and Morocco. Those imprisoned included Gaullists, Freemasons, and Jews, and also communists.

himself was later arrested by the Germans after the Allied invasion of North Africa in 1942 and imprisoned. He was eventually released and arrested again by French authorities, though he was later rehabilitated by the French government in the 50s.

Frix Michelier

Michelier was commander of the Vichy naval forces station in Morocco and commander and chief of the Atlantic theater of operations during the allied landing in North Africa he fought against the allies alongside the Italian and German navies, he continued fighting even after receiving a telegram from the Commander-in-Chief of the Vichy French Armed Forces to stop resisting.

After the war Michelier was brought before a French court on the charges of treason, but he was able to get case dismissed on the grounds he was carrying out the orders of the Admiralty. He testified during Noguès treason trial before the French High Court. Michelier died in 1966 in Toulouse.

Jean Decoux

From 25 June 1940 he served as interim Vichy French Governor-General of Indochina.
Decoux enforced the Vichy laws against Gaullists, communists and jews.

In the 30th of August 1940, the Japanese foreign minister, Yōsuke Matsuoka, approved a draft proposal submitted by Decouxs government whereby Japanese forces could be stationed in and transit through Indochina only for the duration of the Sino-Japanese War. Both governments then instructed their military representatives in Indochina to work out the details. Japan was unimpressed by the Vichy governments vagueness on the details and on the 22nd September Japan invade French Indochina, On 9 December 1940, an agreement was reached whereby French sovereignty over its army and administrative affairs was confirmed, while Japanese forces were free to fight the war against the Allies from Indochinese soil.

During the Vietnamese famine of 1944–1945,
The Decoux government did little to helps the Vietnamese, the famine was caused by the french and Japanese exploiting the land in Vietnam and using Vietnamese rice and maize as fuel for their power stations.

After returning to France Decoux was arrested and tried by the Justice High Court and placed under house arrest. he was declared innocent of all charges in 1949 and restored to his former rank and privileges.

Paul Touvier

Paul Claude Marie Touvier was a French Nazi collaborator and war criminal during World War II in Occupied France and Vichy France. After the war he hid from the French authorities and was harboured by the Catholic Church.

He was pardoned by the French government in 1971.

General Motors

War Reparations

Chase Manhattan Bank

Five months after Pearl Harbor, Carlos Niedermann, head of the Paris branch, wrote his New York supervisor that his branch enjoyed the “very special esteem” of top German officials, which caused “a rapid expansion of deposits.” Working in close collaboration with the German authorities, the branch seized the assets of at least a hundred Jewish accounts thought by the Gestapo to be particularly worth going after, and handed them over to the Nazi occupiers.

Dow Chemical

Dow Chemical had operated with Nazi chemical conglomerate I G Farben right up to America’s entry into the war. Investigations in the early 1940s by the Truman Committee revealed that Nazi Germany had purchased large stocks of magnesium from Dow for use in incendiary bombs. Dow had been selling magnesium to the Nazis for 21¢ a pound while maintaining a 30¢ price in the US and apparently trying to shut out the British.

Union Banking Corporation: While Prescott Bush, father of the elder President George Bush, was its director, the Union Banking Corporation represented the interests of the German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, in the 1930s. Bush was also linked to the Consolidated Silesian Steel Company, on the German-Polish border, which used slave labor from the concentration camps.

Farben built a factory for producing synthetic oil and rubber (from coal) in Auschwitz, which was the beginning of SS activity and camps in this location during the Holocaust.
At its peak in 1944, this factory made use of 83,000 forced laborers.

The pesticide Zyklon B, for which IG Farben held the patent, was manufactured by Degesch (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Schädlingsbekämpfung), which IG Farben had 42.2 percent (in shares) of and which had IG managers in its Managing Committee. Of the 24 directors of IG Farben indicted in the so-called IG Farben Trial (1947-1948) before a U.S. military tribunal at the subsequent Nuremberg Trials, 13 were sentenced to prison terms between 1½ and eight years.

IBM

Hitler awarded prestigious decorations to Thomas J. Watson, IBM’s chief executive officer. Its German subsidiary, with the support of the American company, helped the Nazi government with a punch-card mechanism for identifying Jews, Gypsies, and other ‘undesirables,’ thus making it possible to destroy that population in Germany and the occupied countries. Each concentration camp kept tabs on inmates using IBM’s technology; IBM trained SS personnel in how to use their machines to record the movement, sorting, and mass execution within the death camps. Without this technology, the camps could never have achieved their horrendous numbers, and the Final Solution would not have been as final.

Following the rise of Hitler to power, Teagle and Hermann Schmitz jointly gave a special assignment to Ivy Lee, the notorious New York publicity man, who had for some years worked for the Rockefellers. They engaged Lee for the specific purpose of economic espionage. He was to supply I.G. Farben, and through it the Nazi government, with intelligence on the American reaction to such matters as the German armament program, Germany's treatment of the Church, and the organization of the Gestapo. He was also to keep the American public bamboozled by papering over the more evil aspects of Hitler's regime. For this, Lee was paid first $3,000 then $4,000 annually, the money paid to him through the Bank for International Settlements in the name of I.G. Chemie. The contract was for obvious reasons kept oral and the money was transferred in cash. No entries were made in the books of the employing companies or in those of Ivy Lee himself. After a short period Lee's salary was increased to $25,000 per year and he began distributing inflammatory Nazi propaganda in the United States on behalf of I.G. Farben, including virulent attacks on the Jews and the Versailles Treaty.
