HIIII its me ERVA!!
I've come to complain about my experience with college and schooling as a whole. As a bonus I posted some pics of my books.

But anyway Ill keep it short and sweet, college feels like an extension the same bullshit I dealt with in high school.

I was expecting college to be more focused on writing in depth essays/proofs and reading big large books and writing summaries and drawing diagrams for the professor. In reality though school has been thoroughly taken over by online bullshit, online assignment sheets that you fill in the answers for.
I'm fine with repetition, in fact repetition is actually good for learning at times, but this just feels lazy, and it blocks actual learning it feels like for me.

Idk, I guess I've just been so accustomed to self study and doing writing summaries and essays according to what the books Ive read that it feels really weak by comparison.

I've told my parents how I feel and they say that I just gotta wait till I get into a more advanced class, but idk If I really have the patience for that :(.

Honestly the one thing I am currently going to school for to learn, medical stuff (surgery) may not even be necessary.
I really really wanna learn brain surgery, but honestly college just seems so boring and a barrier to actual learning that I might just try to learn surgery outside of school.
Of course theres books on it, but for something like that I'd need actual samples to work on.

Idk.
Maybe I should still go to school…. :(

also not trying to bookflex on ppl w that library pic, I havent even begun to read all of them
currently just reading my biology book for the course Im taking and euler algebra (working my way up to his calc textbooks)

In my experience your parents are right. Unfortunately these early boring classes are usually foundational which means that if you are not paying attention now, you will probably be very lost in many of the later classes. At least that how it was for me, but I studied computer science, maybe it's different for medicine.

The university I went to had all kind of clubs for subjects related to studies where students did more self-directed learning, maybe you can see if your has any interesting stuff like this? For us it meant electronics and programming and stuff like that, maybe for medicine there are people who dissect frogs for fun? I don't know but I hope you find something interesting that helps you power through the boring but necessary parts.

School is what you make of it. You have vast libraries and professors of all kinds at your finger tips. You can literally learn anything and it’s way easier at a college than anywhere else. In law school I had a photography show and just walked into the art school deans office to ask him questions. I walked into the music department to learn piano. You could go find books on jazz or Egyptology and there will be some autist on campus who loves that shit and would be willing to help you. If you’re gonna be a doctor, you’d get your profs to introduce you to some doctors you could shadow. You could study all the brain surgery books on file.

God I miss school.

College (University) isn't about learning, it's about passing so you get credentials, moreso nowadays that information is freely available and that literacy and numeracy is considered bare minimum and not a privilege atleast in the 'first world', not to mention that university isn't about learning when you have to pay or take on debt, then you have to pressure of getting something other than knowledge out of it so you can recuperate your losses into something material that can be capitalised on. There is literally no reason to go to higher education than to blag yourself into a career in the hopes of escaping manual labour.

dunno where you're from but you kinda need credentials to start cutting people up, but you do get to start stitching people up from your first clinical year of med school

also if you want to make it a career, then good luck surgery is hell
