The 7th generation was the last with video games that established a true canon in the industry (Minecraft, COD 4, Gears of War, Demon/Dark Souls, Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, Far Cry 3 etc…) although being a generation inferior to the 6th and being the beginning of the modern cancers of the industry. The 8th generation is an extension of the 7th and the 9th is a generation of nothing. I think the only games worth playing this generation (not indie) are Elden Ring and Baldur Gate 3 and some others depending on your tastes like Lies of P, Unicorn Overlord and Hi-Fi Rush but not much more.
