I get that they push the “logistical constraints warp thing” hard, but the entire premise of this episode is stupid. The guard is on a hive world that is clearly not abandoned as much as it is under siege. Those are like the one places where running out of bullets and guns just shouldn’t be possible given the sheer production rates. You cannot even give the “the munitions aren’t the right kind” excuse either given that autoguns exist and are used pretty regularly in the books for emergencies like this. Finally, the soldiers there are literally right next to a hive city. Literally everyone in the first five minutes should be strapped head to toes in weapons given how easy it is to find the gear. Coincidentally, the soldiers could also just take refuge there instead of losing even more soldiers pointlessly to orks—like fuck the authors explicitly go out of their way to clarify that the guard isn’t the Soviet-propaganda stereotype of an army throwing meat waves at technologically superior opponents. This episode pissed me off so badly man
