With the amount of shill threads about Stellar Blade I kept seeing on 4chan /v/ saying it was a "decent action game" I ended up buying it along with some other games for my brother's birthday last year (at great expense as it's a modern video game and all). He never touched it so I finally gave the demo a go myself to see if it was worth the hype.
It was a Sekiro-like. and not even that great a one. It almost seems like it was hyped to shit because it had attractive girls in skintight suits and almost only because of that. I had more fun with Devil's Third of all games.

goonbait is less about the aesthetic content itself and more about the lack of anything else. you can slice it any way you want, stellar blade looks and feels like a budget knockoff game, it has nothing to say, and it offers nothing to the player except the blandest hack n slash experience imaginable. its only differentiating asset vs any asset flip is the extremely hot beautifully rendered playable protagonist, but everything else, it's subpar and mediocre. thus gooner game.

please be honest if you're gonna call a game goonbait. is the game hypersexualized? yes. but it isn't a porn game. it has solid gameplay and the devs very clearly put effort into it. the soundtrack is pretty well received. the action and gameplay is well reviewed by people who enjoy the genre. the story is pretty much identical to every other action rpg, so nothing special but also not offensively bad. if it weren't for Eve (and now Evie) being "the wrong kind of sexy" we would not be pretending it's a bad game.
You could replace Stellar Blade's protagonist with Pinocchio from Lies of P and the same game journalists would be praising it for its "visceral tight combat" and "beautifully rendered graphics" but because the protagonist is a beautiful lady😍🥰 an entire demographic of terminally online dumbasses decided to build their entire identity around hating this game lol. and don't get me wrong, I think Lies of P is a 10/10 game and one of the best soulslikes ever made. But I also think Stellar Blade is Fine. It's better or on par with Code Vein and I would classify that as a "good" action game for fans of the genre.
I also find it pretty funny that critics of the first game were up in arms over Eve being a hypersexualized unrealistic bimbo sex doll. So the devs took that criticism and made Evie into a more realistic average girl with a slim athletic build. And game journos are STILL shitting their pants over it. I don't understand the feminist line here or how it advances womens interests to shit on every depiction of female beauty in games. games are supposed to be fantasy just let people enjoy things goddamn.

>>47069>that's an extremely reductive interpretation of the game that basically indicates you already decided you hate the game before even playing iti've been documenting my experience with this game in this thread, i pirated it with voices38's patch. i stopped playing it the third time it made me push boxes. roughly 70% of the game are linear corridors where you fetch keys and solve simple puzzles, the sort of content which mostly acts as padding. literal garten of banban game design, that's a game for toddlers btw. side quests are even worse, they're less than content, they're mere busywork, literal chores. combat is serviceable at best, but it gets old quick because there's no variety to it, there's no skill ceiling to dominate, enemies are retarded sponges that literally execute the same moves over and over, after encountering tachy or whatever the fuck i decided the game is trash. i gave it a lot more patience than this piece of shit for simpletons deserves.
