Thoughts on DLSS 5? It AI sloppifies your GPU rendered frames. I don't hate it tbh

Why does everything suck now?
The imperial core doesn't even get good treats anymore.

Everytime they turn it on it hurts my eyes. I hate that framerate upscale every TV seems to come with by default and it's sad how many people leave it on. Don't they get that movies have long been shot on 24 fps intentionally because people like the look of it better. I just watched the examples on a little screen and I could still feel eye strain. The unfiltered games look kinda like a toy, but the DLSS looked like one of those fake HDR renders which doesn't look "realistic" to my eyes. Also, some of their choices of games look intentionally stylized so why would anyone want to see the anime girl AI regenerated as a photorealistic woman?

look at the comment kek, digital foundry is "independent" now btw

horrifying
there are probably decent use case, but largely it will just kill any coherent, unique and cool graphic design and uniformize everything.

apparently they could only do this shit with two 5090 cards running together, so it's just bullshit for investors

I still have no clue why people on steam unironically praise a game having good framerate because of DLSS or other AI gen tech, like bro I want the game playable on medium with all that shit turned OFF,that would be praiseworthy

I hate this ai slop

I have been noticing this pattern lately where people post memes related to the main meme without any caption. First I noticed it on xitter, and I assumed it was bots, then I noticed in the ultraleft subreddit (i go there because they sometimes do good shitposts) that's where I saw it the strongest, maybe since most of them probably use tiktok/instagram where I assume it's more popular, and recently (which surprissed me a lot) on lemmy, and now here, it seems? Am I noticing something real or am I hallucinating things?

Well memes are simply conventions of communication: people make jokes related to the topic regardless if they had prior relation, because the part of the joke is pointing out a new relation.

I have termed it "discordification": treating public forums like groupchats. Atleast based on personal observations and my own behaviour, the threshold for posting something vaguely related with no comment is lower among friends. And on discord, it seems, these mental spaces have started merging and spreading from there.
