I've been seeing all the hype over Wardogs but apparently it already has tons of hackers, and they're going to do progress wipes (kill me). I tried looking up comparable games but they all just have terrible reviews about how the developers ruined the game and shit like that, is there anything actually good to play?

All FPS games are shit nowadays because cheating software and hardware have advanced so much and been so popularized, and dev teams put barely any thought/funding into their anticheat systems that once you're even mid-tier skill level at any multiplayer FPS you'll start running into endless cheaters. I think the only devs even trying to combat the problem are the Valorant devs but I hate Valorant's art style and gameplay so if you don't like Valorant there's really nothing for anyone interested in multiplayer FPS games anymore.

I talked about this with my bf who says that i should play singleplayer games and the answer is;
No, not even playable good singleplayer FPS considering that…

>New Vegas modding situation it's filled with drama

which keeps enough mods incompatible with each other actively because of some fight between modders factions

>PAYDAY 2 just switched to 64-bits

which is good but most mods are unusable at the moment in the main branch

>Escape From Tarkov pve AI is busted

you will get head-eyes as soon as you ever so slightly peek within a 300m radius of a scav

>Postal 2 Xmod hasn't been updated since 2015

which is required for a consistent modded enviroment

>RDR2 modding is highkey dead

with most mods being modern weapons for some reason

>STALKER GAMMA has even less addons compatible than Anomaly

and the best weapon mod "The Armed Zone" seems to have finally been discontinued

>DOOM Eternal

just overall too easy, too mid and the difficulty options are more of a nuisance than actually difficult

>Duke Nukem sourceports are dead as hell

i'd play AMC Squad but i wish i could play Co-op actually

>Killing Floor 1 & 2 modding communities have finally died

no new mods being made anymore

That's why i've just been cycling between playing Counter-Strike 2 which keeps me entertained making up strategies when the enemies at 4k aren't just fucking cheating diasporoids
and HUNT Showdown which makes me angry as fuck as Crytek keeps messing up the game with more retarded stuff

online multiplayer died with CoD MW2, when dedicated servers got replaced by automatic matchmaking so that publishers could shove DLC and yearly iterations down players' throats.

even the most intrusive kernel level anti cheat will be circumvented by hackers. all you've got is another rootkit while hackers will be ruining matches all the same.
also, see above. the biggest problem is that everything is managed by some service provider who has no incentive to actually do anything about cheaters and hackers.

cheats/hacks/bots in online games is a multi billion dollar business, parts of which will go to the publishers one way or another.

>Escape from Tarkov
maybe have a look at the unofficial single player tarkov mod. tons of mods/plugins to tweak AI behaviour and everything else

>dev teams put barely any thought/funding into their anticheat systems
I don't see how that issue could possibly be solved. There is game-state information on the company's servers and there is game-state's information on the player's computer. The company wants to avoid that the player gets an information advantage by hacking into the computer at home, so the company avoids putting information into the player's computer that the player is not supposed to see (enemy positioning/health etc.)

But that's not much. The company can try and register some very inhuman inputs (mouse speed, acceleration, straight lines, accuracy), but aimbot programmers counter that with just a little sprinkling of output fuzzying. And what are you supposed to do about people who have an actual physical setup with a camera pointed at the screen of an unmodified game and a thing physically delivering inputs to a normal input device?

I suppose you already know all of that.

the answer is to RETVRN to decentralized servers ran by the players with their own mod teams, let it sink or swim based on that.

Reducing the amount of cheaters to 0.01% of the playerbase is good enough tbh

Arma reforger is goated

i love SPTarkov but i'm waiting for it to update to V1.5

it actually is, no doubt about it. matchmaking and all the shenanigans with MMR and whatever happens in the backend serves exactly one purpose: maximizing playtime and incentivizing players to spend on micro transactions
