ocarina of time remake extended gameplay!!! i'm soyfacing to an insane degree rn
THOTS?!?!?!?!?!??!!
- I don't like the graphics, looks like those unreal engine tech demos you see people post all over youtube. it's visually cluttered and thus unappealing.
- I guess it's good that the world is fully 3D as opposed to having fixed and pre-rendered scenes, but those same scenes gave the original a certain charm that will be missing from this.
- I guess gyro aim is good, but I can't see it being more useful than z-targeting.
- I guess having a dedicated jump button is good, only I can't see where it'd ever be useful.
- I guess having a free camera is all well a good, but then it renders some of the elements of the game that were designed around z-targeting useless (i.e. certain dungeons have blind spots that make you stop your forward momentum and use z-targeting to look around corners) so those things will have to be changed.
- I guess it's nice that hyrule field is larger and looks like an actual place, but unless they add more areas or actual things to do there, it's just going to be as neglected as the first game's, especially after you get the ability to warp.
- I feel that it's a step back to have only one item on a quick selection button at a time, when the original had three.
- they run the risk of changing too much and thus making it too far removed from the original to have it be considered a faithful remake, but they also run the risk of having a tepid and boring game, despite all the new features, because most of those new features will be useless if they don't design new content around them.
- the "hum this ocarina song to make link play it on the ocarina" feature is gratuitous and unnecessary, and smacks of being added for the sake of having a new set of features, rather than because it was deliberately designed to make the game more interesting.
- no game needs a remake
6/10 but I am biased against it because it's like the industry is outright admitting that they have no more new ideas and are recycling old content alongside creating "new" content that was already well received in other games (see the new onimusha game that people are calling a sekiro clone because it's parry heavy)
>>48015Link looks fucking hideous. I hate his face and I hate the weird overdetailed grass tunic. Also the content appears to be damn near 1:1 so I don't see the point in playing it (like with the ugly Demon's Souls remake).
It is clearly oriented towards being played by new people, especially children, with all the gimmicks and the visual style, rather than just appeal to people who already played it, which at least give it more legitimacy to exist, and the "it looks like an unreal demo" is only true if you look at it in motion with the fx, especially all the bloom and shit, if you look at the art showcased, they're clearly going for a 80's fantasy look, all the characters even look like puppets, with ganondorf looking like he's made of wood, and link is polished like he's made of porcelain.
>>48020it looks like ass, I don't care what style they're going for, and if you ask me, none of them look like marionettes or whatever. it just look like amateur work, hence the "unreal demo" comments.
It's both better and worse than I imagined it would be.
>>48018>but they also run the risk of having a tepid and boring gameTepid and boring is kind of the impression I'm getting, yeah.
>the "hum this ocarina song to make link play it on the ocarina" feature is gratuitous and unnecessary, and smacks of being added for the sake of having a new set of features, rather than because it was deliberately designed to make the game more interesting.I was ten years old when the first one came out. If I was ten years old now and could ACTUALLY play the songs with my ACTUAL official Nintendo OOT ocarina I would shit my pants.
i think it looks good and i don't understand the backlash against it on x the everything app blaze your glory. i think it's mostly old millenials
>>48025>i think it's mostly old millenials<people who grew up with piece of media and have nostalgia are critical of pointless remakeshocker.
>>48020>It is clearly oriented towards being played by new people, especially childrenfuck them kids. it doesn't even look like "something that would appeal to children", like flat out, that's cope from some youtube shorts guy who found rococo in a dictionary. the unreal engine 5 demo look is obviously meant for the 40 year old manchildren fanboys who had wanted exactly this since the gamecube got released
>>48025I can't explain it but I just don't like how it looks. I'm not even super precious about the awful 64 graphics either.
