Recently, fantasy media has been doing diversity in the absolute dumbest and laziest way possible, which is to continue to do European-based medieval fantasy and just make all the characters (including the magical creatures) a completely random smattering of all ethnic appearances and calling it a day. No explanation for why a backwoods medieval farming village appears so cosmopolitan it makes New York City look like an ethnostate. And no recognition of non-European cultures either, it's just straight European fantasy and all cultures and people are treated as European with their appearance being purest tokenism.
But with the Elder Scrolls deciding to put the next game in Hammerfell, land of the Redguards, we have an opportunity to have a fantasy world based on non-European cultures with a largely black and brown native population since the Redguards are based on North African peoples. Its an opportunity to show that you can have a successful fantasy world based on non-European cultures with a mostly non-white population, and the right will no longer have the justified complaint that its shitty worldbuilding (and, despite culture war contrarianism, I think everyone knows that the aforementioned trend IS shitty worldbuilding) and they will be forced to fall back on naked racism, which will cause them recede back into their corners of society.
But all that depends on the game itself actually being good and with modern Bethesda that is a big question.

they already did an elder scrolls with black people it's called morrowind
