I've been experimenting on using GPT 3.5 to extract information from YT transcripts & using it to automatically generate critical responses. I can give it a personality that it uses while generating those responses. For instance, I can retrieve and summarize a selected writer from marxists.org (wget -r -np -k $url) and use the texts as the basis for a personality. To make these large sets useful for the GPT, I use llamaindex to structure the data and extract the relevant bits using specific queries. The results of those queries can be worked into a specific prompt and memory for the GPT. Thus with a little bit of effort I can have pseudo-Bordiga criticize Agent Kochinski.
I've also used it, with some handholding, as a tool to retrieve books from libgen (it does so using libgen API) and extract text from them (for EPUB it converts to HTML then plaintext, PDF is built-in). It is possible to then analyze and summarize the text in chunks, which it accomplishes by splitting the text file into chapters, summarizing each one, and then appending all the generated summaries into a single text file. It is then possible to publish the summary as a LaTeX generated PDF. The result is not significantly worse than what you get from a human-curated service like Blinkist. NB: Blinkist is garbage, so it's not like the GPT generated summary is a substitute for reading or even skimming the text.
It's a useful tool for automating many basic tasks and it can 100% be used to generate criticisms of low-effort reactionary shit - if you prompt it correctly and give it a memory.
Has anyone else messed around with GPT3.5? I'm curious to explore other use cases.
