Been bingeing a few of these. Most are extremely low effort, and it's overall a bit of a forced subgenre, but some stuff can be genuinely spooky.

I like it analog horror quite a bit but you've got to admit they've become a bit trope-y. Marble Hornets and Local 58 are still the OG and the best, but I do quite like Gemini Home Entertainment. The rest tend to be kind of the same thing imo, Mandela Catalogue started out interesting with the religious stuff but now it seems like mostly amateurish low budget horror, it's genuinely funny at times lol. Hell, those FNAF videos were way spookier

>>25467
I didn't like Marble Hornets
Local 58 is nice
It's a really untapped form of narrative even still, I feel

The Monument Mythos has a vibe no other analog horror series has. The Mystery Flesh Pit is also good but it isnt analog horror.

That's the first one I watched. It has a second series running alongside it called CORNERFOLKLORE

>>25497
Do you have the House In The Ocean? He deleted the video before I saved them.

>>25499
Nope. Did you watch it?

Some of Conner O'Malley's stuff probably counts

Mandela Catalogue is just a massive rip-off of Dionaea House so just read that instead. The entire genre is kind of just variations on the themes from Dionaea House and Candle Cove (the guy that wrote Candle Cove also made Local 58) as well as some of the other classic creepypastas like Ted the Caver and Slenderman. Still kind of fun to watch.

Gemini Home Entertainment is definitely the best one. I downloaded the short video game the series creator made that's based off the video "Lethal Omen", pic related

This is one is neat. It was made almost 3 years ago and it seemed like the OP had an interesting concept going on but they never got to continuing it

There's also the Walten Files

nana825763

>>25465
The concept is typically better than execution.
Much of the time that the creators are too young to actually remember cassettes and analog public TV channels is very obvious.
Some are good. Local58 generally is solid most of the time. As is the Gemini Home Entertainment.

The Mandela Catalog is extremely forced as 'spooky' for as popular as it is. Being almost a parody of itself imo.

Here's another one: Eventide Media Center

>>25465
Would it be possible to make a Analog Horror movie? Or is it inherently impossible as a genre?

>>25499
Ok I found it

>>26451
>>26452
i can kinda get why he pulled these down
they don't really fit into the rest of the monument mythos, and are more funny than anything else

Another one: Minerva Alliance

>>26470
would be cool without the fake-spoopy edits like cutting away right after the image for subterranean creatures comes up or whatever

New Gemini Home Entertainment video but it's just a short promo video for a plush toy. First time he's uploaded in 4 months

>>26571
He gotta eat

>>26571
>make bad knock-offs of a somewhat decent creepypasta
>start cashing out with merch
awful people. youtube was a mistake

>>26573
What was the creepypasta

>>26591
Sorry meant for >>26584

Analog horror is really lame 99% of the time. The stuff that's somewhat decent is usually the stuff that's the least horror-y. Local 58's Contigency is great because it feels like good political satire. Monument Mythos has some interesting alt-history stuff going on. But most analog horror i've seen is just shitty shaky cam footage with a VHS filter over it of a shadow in a door or the moon. I guess the appeal is just piecing stuff together to understand the "lore"? And then 50 youtubers make 5 hour long videos to explain it? I don't really get it.

>>26593
>>26594
Oh I already knew about both of those. Say what you want about Gemini Home Entertainment but I think it's original enough to not be called a knock off

File: 1657155768988-1.jpg (12.05 KB, 344x147, download.jpg)

>>26598
Monument Mythos is actually not that much horror but more absurdist weird fiction combined with alternate history.
>>26571
The only parts of the channel that is worth while is the videos about space
>>25465
Is MFP analog horror?

>>26598
>>26605
Monument Mythos is definitely horror?

Here's a relatively old one: Channel 7. It used to be the 2nd biggest analog horror series next to Local 58 but it eventually got surpassed by Gemini Home Entertainment, Monument Mythos, Mandela Catalogue etc. This series in particular got accused a lot of copying Local 58

>>26607
The guy who made this also made another series called Analog Archives

>>26605
I love Mystery Flesh Pit. Lovecraftian jurassic park-type capitalist hubris with body horror. I don't know if it is analog horror. It's more like an scp.
>Monument Mythos is actually not that much horror
That Freedom Statue video fucked me up though.

>>26607
the pink floyd logo lmao

>>26584
what does it matter if it's heavily inspired by a creepy pasta or not? It's really well made

https://piped.video/watch?v=rf-OSO5Wrbk
new mandela catalogue just dropped

>>25484
The contigency one I wish was real.

Found this channel that's more like celluloid horror

another history thing

Analog horror is interesting, the scary part is not the actual content but how the message is sent and how the sound and images are "corrupted by aliens" or some shit.
You can interpret it as liberal anxiety at being delivered media content from suspicious or treacherous figures, like the famous bit of Local 58 that suggests parents do a murder suicide of their kids because patriotism. Burger country paranoia at Max Headroom television hijacking.

>>31340
The implication in Local 58 is either that there’s some sort of paranormal other-dimension that hijacks the radio waves that pass through it, or the TV station itself is carrying out MKULTRA experiments or whatever

Bump
New season of Monument Mythos seems to be coming out

>>26449
It's called Skinamarink
It's on Shudder or you can just find a torrent on rarbg.to
Also there's a limited theatrical run in the US and Canada right now if you can find a showing near you

Bump
Mandela Catalogue and The Monument Mythos are some MCU shit now because the people behind them don't know when to stop and keep the mystery
Any good stuff out there?

>>34008
Would you stop when you're making bank off of this stuff?

>>34009
Are they? The views dip below a million pretty quickly after the early ones, and they don't have many Patreon subscribers either.

>>31342
IIRC Kris Straub confirmed that the moon in Local 58 is itself like a sentient Eldritch Abomination being. But I prefer the original fan theory that the events are all part of an alien invasion

>>34008
Nah the creator of Monumetn Mythos keeps making them to support his other horror videos.

The Death of Analog Horror

Analog horror has overstayed its welcome and I'm glad it's dying.

File: 1699022690727.png (45.5 KB, 483x450, oooooohspooookyyy.png)

>>26445

>The Mandela Catalog is extremely forced as 'spooky' for as popular as it is.

what can I say I like my spooky little alternate guys been rooting for em the whole time

>>37377
It was already oversaturated and dying when this thread was made a year ago
I think it's part of the larger trend of "prestige cerebral horror" kicked off by Hereditary combined with creepypasta-type horror that quickly devolved into cheap tricks and jumpscares instead of coming up with anything interesting in the cliche-driven algorithm-driven environment of social media

Has anyone found any good new Analog Horror is this shit really dead

>>40080
>>40081
these are both just home pages with links that dont work

>>40076
Dinosaur horror is getting popular due to rising interest in paleontology and extinct animals in YouTube.

>>40089
sigh, do you guys want an investigative ARG or do you want Wendigoon to do all the work for a youtube video for you to watch?

>>40112
What have you found so far

>>40081

Sloka Cola was founded the same day the Tunguska Event happened??
What is this

New cognitohazard has dropped

>>40830
This is one of the scariest analog horror i've seen in a year. The fact that it doesn't try to create a whole cinematic universe unlike other series probably helped

>>40832
Ironically, this is probably one of the few pieces of analog horror that I wanna see more of, or nods to from other videos — the Boiled One feels like something from a much larger mythos. The creature’s resemblance to Jesus seems to be more than just a “hey look it’s a demon,” with the blood tearing open from the sky and the camera focusing on the bizarre organs on its abdomen(?). It feels like there’s something much bigger going on here than a waking sleep paralysis, and I would love to see more.

>>40830
>obviously sinister from the beginning with the convoluted safety instructions
>dumb religious stuff
>shitty wojak jumpscare
>le elevator music getting more buzzy and off-key
Meh. Derivative. 3/10 imo.

>>40839
The picture of the boiled one next to the house really fucked me up, though. And my lizard brain still gets fucked up by the cheesy concept of cognitohazards. There's some good stuff in there messed up by a flawed overall structure.

>>40830
i mean, the art is really good, it's just not unsettling or even scary. analog horror focusing too much in religious stuff kinda wash away the horror it could be (but idk, horror in video format is a bit "dull" – unless you count jumpscare as horror)

>>40858
Analog horror is kind of defined a lot by visual elements. But yeah, the people that make them need to learn how to do horror narratives better. Read some books, maybe.
