Like a lot of "adult-oriented" animation (as in family guy, brickleberry, etc…) in the west, it exists to indignify animation as a medium so when the network / streaming service shuts down something legitamately good like Aggretsuko, Bojack Horseman to prop up live action / CGI live action slop, they can point to stuff like Big Mouth to give people the impression that animation is somehow inherently immature a medium.
